I have a hard time sleeping anyway, but when I take dexedrine, it's near impossible.  wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they have any ideas to help it?

thanks!

It is quite possible. Perhaps you shouldn't be taking
Dexedrine. See your Dr.

I know that Ritalin HELPS me sleep and is the best thing I have found to cure my sleep problems.

However, coffee and many other stimulants keep me up. It may be that you have to find the right medication or dose pattern.   I actually take a small dose (5 mg) of Ritalin at bed time if I an having sleep problems.

Best wishes,

- VicAwesome, I'll talk to him about it, right now he told me to take melatonin an hour before bed for 2 weeks, and apparently after about 2 weeks the melatonin will help reset my sleep cycle, so I'm gonna see if that works, and if not, try something else...

Well, how much are you taking, which kind (spansules or instant release?), and when?

If you are taking the spansules and it's late in the afternoon you may want to pull the time back to the morning.  If you are taking IR, maybe take it one less time as you near bedtime.

It takes a while to get used to the effect - but after a month or so I now have zero trouble sleeping.  That is of course if I keep the med dosage far enough from my sleep time of course.

Avoid coffee, tea and pop before bed (say 2 hours at least).  Avoid habits that keep you awake like TV, exercise or other things that get you going again.

I take 10mg of the spansule version, and I take it in the morning, which i thought was weird that it would keep me up that long after I take it.

I can be pretty sure that a 10mg spansule WON'T be the culprit here Tyler!  Almost 100 percent.

spansules pretty much peter out between 6 and 9 hours.  The longest I've ever felt even a tingle is 12 and that was probably the coffee.

I'd say the lack of sleep may be the dose is too low (so your ADHD is acting up like it does for me medless), you are taking caffeine or other stuff too close to sleep, or something unrelated is happening to mess up your sleep.

10mg is pretty light as a once-daily.  I'd check with your MD as I got off 10mg at about 3 months as it was just not doing it for me afterwards.  20 seems great I've been about 12 months or so on it thanks to med holidays.

I didn't know a low dosage would keep me up, but I guess that makes sense if my brain gets going on it's normal tangents after that?  Thanks for the help glen, I'll have to see what I can figure out.
