[QUOTE=BOSTONMOTHER]  If they suspend her it reflects their need to document the extent of behavior problems and respond to other parents whose children are negatively affected by Tamauri's behavior, and they realize suspension will not serve to improve her behavior.

We all agree this is not merely an ADHD problem, so Focalin vs. Adderall is not the question. Why is she so angry and aggressive? That is the question.

Then, she is being aggressive with other children at school.  That's what the administration at the school is saying.  So, yes, she can be placed in a self-contained class for children with behavior issues, whether you want her placed there or not.

My son has an IEP for dysgraphia (handwriting issues)  and was put into an "inclusion" class.  He was hit, kicked, punched and egged into doing things because the other kids loved to see him get into trouble.  If your daughter is reasonably behaved student and doesn't really have anger or behavior issues, DON'T LET THEM DO THIS!!!!!  In fact, if she doesn't have and IEP/504 then I don't see how they can justify this.  In any case, be very careful and ask tons of questions.  If there is anything about this that you don't feel comfortable about, don't do this.  If she has issues like lillian described above, you may want to consider it, though.
OOOOO.K, you have signed off, so I'm going to take that as a yes to my question.  This is the deal...If your daughter has done any of the above things I mentioned, she can be placed against your wishes.

No she never brought any drugs etc etc in to school... She just has a hard time  with her social skills... I mean it could be b.c I was in a DV WHEN SHE WAS 3UNTIL SHE WAS SIX AND MAYBE THIS COULD BE BOTHERING HER.

Go and observe the behavioral class and see what you think of the environment.

Bostonmother,

Yesterday, you were talking about your daughter's temper, and the fact that she was getting suspended for bothering other students.  What has she done?

If she isn't violent, I think you ought to fight the placement.  I don't see how they can say that she does not qualify for a 504 Plan or an IEP, but she can be placed in a behavior class because her behavior is so inappropriate.  That doesn't make any sense.  Read the following link, for it has a lot of good information about this:

I had a difficult conversation with the principal today, and a more constructive one with Ms. Quirk. I shared with them our hope that the psychiatry visits will help us figure out what the problem is so that we can make a plan. I asked them to document all that they are doing for Tamauri so that we can use that to figure out what works and doesn't and what the next step is. The principal feels that Tamauri behaves as if she is an adult, if I understood correctly, and does not see her as depressed. If that is part of the problem, medication will not be the solution. If they suspend her it reflects their need to document the extent of behavior problems and respond to other parents whose children are negatively affected by Tamauri's behavior, and they realize suspension will not serve to improve her behavior.

We all agree this is not merely an ADHD problem, so Focalin vs. Adderall is not the question. Why is she so angry and aggressive? That is the question.

I will share this with Tamara Wiseman.

THIS IS THE EMAIL FROM HER DOC...

My son is an a special setting class and his teacher is wondering why he was put in there because the preschool decided to put him there before he was on his medication.

Bostonmother,

I have asked you before and not gotten an answer, but I will try asking again.  Does your daughter have an IEP or a 504?  The answer to your question depends on this.

Hi she had and IEP AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. HER DOC IS TRYING WITH THE SCHOOL TO GET AND 504 BUT HER SCHOOL ISN'T WILLING.

Has your daughter been physically aggressive with any of the kids or teachers at school, threatened the other students or teachers, been busted for drugs, or brought a weapon to school?a question my daughter school wants to put her in a small setting class with kids with behavoirial issue if I don't agree on it they can't do that right.
