Please Help..Dont Know What To Do | ADHD Information
For about the past 4 weeks, every single day there has been a problem with my 6yo son ADHD (and possibly Asperger's Syndrom) at school. We've had reports of him hitting kids, teachers, throwing things, running off and hiding, peeing in the floor..you name it. I've been following up with my son's psychiatrist and he mentioned possible Asperger's Syndrome on our last visit on Tuesday.
Anyway, the school has been very cordial (for now) but basically I see no difference or new strategies in the way they're handling him (or not handling him) at school. What are they required to do by law, if anything, to help my son or is it completely up to me and the doctors??
He's already receiving some special services, therapies, and has an IEP at school. What more should the school be doing? Can they just continue to do the same until they decide to expel my son from school?
Please help. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
You can request another IEP meeting and ask your psych for suggestions that may help if included in the IEP. Until he is accurately diagnosed, I don't have any other ideas. Maybe some others here have gone through this and can give you pointers also.
Has your son shown any of this behavior at home? Its possible something at school is triggering it.
It seems like his behavior at home is ok...not perfect but ok. He's whiney at times and you have to tell him two, three, or four times to do something...but I wouldn't know what to do if that wasn't the case. Thanks for your suggestion.
