Yes, I agree.  Trying to remember this is stressful and takes up a big portion of what little attention I have.  It helped a ton to just lower my expectations.  I realized that being a basket case wasn't any more useful than being a space cadet, and it was a whole lot more stressful.  Now, I try not to have to remember much if I can help it.

I really suck when I try to function "normally."  So why should I try?  I was running myself into the ground in order to meet other people's expectations.  When was no longer willing to do that, I began to realize how many of those expectations are utter crap.

Who said the dishes have to be done everyday? (or week even, if I eat out)  My car didn't die when I forgot to change the oil for a couple extra months.  In my state, you can't be pulled over for expired registration.  My clean clothes are all in the garage where the clothes dryer is, so what?  Balancing my checkbook is actually detrimental to my ability to manage my money.

My friends didn't start to hate me when I forgot when I was up front and said, "I really do care, but I am not going to be able to remember that."  In fact, they were willing to help me. I still find unnecessary expectations that I never thought about.

I may be a bit wierd to non-ADHDers, but at least I am not an anxiety ridden shrew anymore.  It is a fair trade, IMO.

Man I agree with you 110% if i get stressed out to the point of no return.  I sometime have to go sit in my bed room alone for a couple of hours to come down.  I am breathing hard angry fusterated feels like a breakdown.
