Right now my son takes Manna Bears (4 in the morning and 4 in the evening) and Ambrotose capsules (2 in the morning and 2 in the evening). I am considering cutting the dosage of the Manna Bears in half and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for the info on Glyconutrients. I will ask the Dr this week when we are there which she recommends starting with. If I may ask, what supplements are you using and how much? Thanks Again!
Thanks Sandra R That sounds like something worth trying. I dont want to give up hope and I have been looing for a place to start. I will have to decide what to try first...because I dont want to be confused about my results like you were as to which caused the benefit. I might start with the Glyconutrients first. My daughter is a very severe case...so I should be able to tell you if there is a difference.
Thanks again!
do you know the dore story I recently read an article (in uk sunday times magazine) about john dore (i think john was his first name) He was a hugely sucessful business man and had a daughter who was dyslexic and add sufferer she suffered from depression and she was so frustrated she said because she felt trapped inside herself (she couldnt express herself), as she got older she could only hold down a job for a number of weeks. John did everything he could for her bringing her to doctors in US (he from england) and all over. He was told eventually that medication will help but there is no cure. He refused to accept that there was no cure and in congunction with a US doctor they worked out a system for his daughter, which worked. She is now married and in a full time work position. The Dore program is still available because John continues to fund it to keep it going. Maybe this article is available from the times, I'm not sure but it gives Johns story and his daughters story. Above is only what I can remember from the article it is interesting though. Just wondering is the dore program expensive???

I knew a little of the background of the program but did not know that his daughter was older when he developed the program. (I believe his first name is Wynford). The client advisor at Dore that I dealt with was great to work with and was a wealth of information about the program. I spent a total of ,275 for the program. The initial assessment was ,200; then each 6 week appt was 0. Our final assessment was . Hopes this helps

My 12 year old son finished the Dore program last month. He was on the program since Nov 2004. In December 2005 I started doing more research because I felt like he needed something more and came across information on glyconutrients. I asked his doctor about glyconutrients and the only thing she knew was that it was all natural and could not harm him. I started giving him glyconutrients and by Feb 2006 he was a totally different child. However, now I cannot tell if it was the Dore program or the glyconutrients. You may want to ask your doctor about the glyconutrients. You can go to www.glyconutrientsreference.com to learn more about it. My son is still taking the glyconutrients and I am still seeing improvements. Hope this helps.
Good luck and please keep me posted!

Yes my son was on the Dore program for 13 months before I started the glyconutrients. I could tell the Dore program was helping him, but felt like he was needing more. On some 6 week check ups he had improved and on some he had declined. Dore tells you to expect this to happen and for us it did. My son was discouraged when the tests showed he had declined, but he was a trooper and stuck with it. We had gotten to a point before the 13 months where there didn't seem to be much change from one 6 weeks test to another. That's when I started thinking that maybe Dore had done everything it was going to do for my son and started researching other alternatives. Once our dr confirmed that the glyconutrients could not harm my son I started giving him the supplements. In February I had 3 of my son's teachers tell me how much more focused he was and how he was starting to participate more in class. He was no longer bringing home behavior slips and missed assignment slips for me to sign. I was able to stop checking his homework and letting him take charge of his own responsibilities. That's not to say we don't slip on occasion but he has taken charge of himself and he is a much happier child. Once again because the greatest improvements happened at the same time we completed Dore and the same time he began taking glyconutrients, I can't tell which one benefits him more. It could be a combination. I just picked up a copy of "Sugars That Heal" and am hoping I can better understand the glyconutrients. The whole basis behind this science makes so much sense to me and yet I keep wondering why it took me so long to find out about it. Didn't mean to ramble. I hope this helps and I wish you guys lots of luck. Keep me posted!
From what I am reading...the Glyconutrients can be affective anywhere from 1 week to 3 months. Depending on the person. I understand you should start to see some results in the first month. I have started this week so I will keep you updated.Piggirl:They have a home program like the dore program at

i to am about to put my son on this dore program and we are trying to find out about the clinic because the fees are quite hefty and we want to make sure its as good as it says it is hown long did it take for those glouch/what ever they were called tablets to work ?I have my son booked in to be assessed next month with the DORE program. They will then work out a program for him which we will do twice a day for 12 months or so. It involves follow up assessments every six weeks and the program is changed according to his progress.
I have my fingers and toes crossed that this will help our boy. They claim a 93% success rate and that the 7% that do not succeed is due to non-compliance by the client.
I will certainly keep you posted on how we go with it.
I have been looking at the Dore program. Has anyone tried this with success? I am hoping to hear from anyone who used for at least 8 months. Also I found a similar program you can purchase and use at home on this web site for a lot less.
http://www.learningbreakthrough.com/index.htm
Has anyone tried anything like this? I gave my Behavior Psychiatrist information on the program for her opinion. I will be seeing her on March 21. I look forward to hearing from anyone with input. In reading about the programs...I completly understand how they work and I understand why they would work. It seems to me there might be something to it. Hope someone has some input.
Thanks!

Good luck with your decision. Sounds like you are on the right path in staying with the natural approaches for treatment. Believe me, I know how stressful and tense things can get and I commend you for continuing to do what is best for your child. I just picked up a copy of "Sugars That Heal" by Emil I. Mondoa, M.D. and Mindy Kitei and I am hoping it helps me to understand glyconutrients better. Keep me posted on your child's progress.

Hi Sandra R
So your son did the DORE program for 13 months before you started the glyconutrients? Was there a progressive improvement in those 13 months with the program or did you notice bigger changes once you started the glyconutrients?
I would hope to see some marked improvement in my son on the DORE program after 12 months as they say that it takes around that long to complete it. I have never come across information on glyconutrients before and will certainly look into it. Thank you for the info Sandra, I am so glad that you have seen great improvement in your boy. It's great to hear about parents finding effective help for their kids

No tellin,
Im more than a FT worker...but if this is a program that could make a difference...just by sitting her down in front of a video and setting few wooden learning games in front of her 2 times a day for 15 mins..Im willing to figure a way to squeeze it in. But like you say...time is precious...that's why I am inquiring as to it's effectiveness. Im hoping someone on here has tried either program....
Imagine your days with normal struggles of normal parents...not that frustrating constant..."you need to do this...you need to focus...hellooooo...you need to do this...you need to focus" I mean good grief...I feel like a broken record! I wouldnt know how to react if I didnt sound like that anymore! But it is my eternal hope and prayer that I can help her through her disabilities to a normal lifestyle someday. And, well, if there is even a chance this program can push us forwards towards that goal...Im all for it!
Hey guys-
It's been a while. Just checking to see how everyone is doing with Dore and/or glyconutrients. Just curious

Hi Sandra!Hi Hayley
I had the same concern, about him not getting the best results. I rang Dore and was told that he will still be getting some benefit, even though he's not getting it quite right. Then, as time goes on and he can feel it helping him, he will be more motivated to do his best.
I said this to my son and he told me it is already helping him (when he is feeling negative, he tells me we've wasted our money and it isn't going to work!
). When I asked him how, he replied that he is thinking more about what he is going to say before he speaks. I thought this was very interesting as we have only focussed on telling him that the program will help him with his reading, writing etc.
It's early days yet so lets all keep each other posted
.
Thanks for posting, Hayley and Somuchwiser.....I'll be checking on by Friday. He has his eval on Wednesday, AND then on Thursday, Mr. Dore himself will be at our humble center for a meet and greet thingy! Should be interesting.
I have to keep the secret of how much it costs. He's incredibly frugal for a 13-yo guy, and doesn't want us to be poor. Then, he'd say no and wouldn't to it.
We may be eating PB&J and fried taters for a while, but it will be so worth it. I'm glad you are seeing results so soon! Great job.
My son had his first assessment about three weeks ago and we are now doing his exercises.
Some of the exercises that seem quite easy to me are difficult for my son and can make him quite stressed. I have found the process very interesting so far and am looking forward to the follow up assessment.
Good luck to all of you giving this a go.
Will keep you posted
.
hayley Psychiatrist Doc is looking into it and will discuss it with me at our next meeting. That is scheduled the monday after Easter. We shall see. She is a big advocate of alternatives as she has seen several work for her patients. My pediatrician is the same as most...take meds and be done with it...thats the only thing that helps...other stuff is just voo doo medicine..so I dont discuss anything with him but her meds. reece had his first evaluation on friday and we were there for about 3 hours start to finish . He was tested on his balance first then he had an eye test with lights follwed by a reading and writing test . after this he was diagnosed and then given his own set of exercises to do . our next appointment is in 6 weeks and he ll be tested again to see any improvements . I just signed up my son in the Dore program. His evaluation is on June 1. I promise to keep everyone updated regarding his progress. I may also sign up for the program since I am also very ADD. I know the program costs alot of money. But I also know how much having ADD has cost me in terms of time, lost income, lost opportunity, etc. etc. etc. If I can save my son from having similar losses, the program is worth 10 times the amount. I believe the parents of children with ADD who also have ADD can appreciate what I am saying.
I have a question for the mom whose child is taking glyconutrients. Which one specifically and what is the dose? Thanks for the reply.
Welcome Logan! Just also want to let you know, there is another posting on the Dore program in the Alternatives section that I have been continuing to post on. I wonder if we can consolidate over there, everybody? It's more appropriate there than here, really. What do you all think? That's great that we are all in a similar starting place. Yes, please keep posting. I was told that the motivational factor kind of dipped after a while, and that part scares me a bit. The exercises are really fun, but I'm finding that what is hard is to get kiddo to stop, listen to the directions and wait before starting. They are very precise. I have a hard time following him. So we have to really stay on focus. That in itself is a good exercise. Kiddo had a massive headache today, I wonder if because of the eye tracking ones we've been doing. He also loves that pilates ball and we've been "playing" with it all day long.
It will be worth every penny! I forsaw his future in your last paragraph without some major intervention. He should be done just in time to start high school, and things should be much easier for him, whereas now the simplest thing can take FOREVER!
Calicorose: Could you please send me a link to the Alternative section. I cant seem to find it. I absolutely don't mind posting over there about Dore. Thanks for the heads up. I cant wait to find it and read all the posts about Dore.

Try this link, but don't know if it will work as I 'm logged in as I paste it. If not, it's on the main list of post topics 'Alternative and Complimentary Medicine."
calicorose38850.8493171296I will try anything regadless of what Dr.'s say. If it's not helping I stop it that's all. What is in the stuff.OldTimer, here is their website. It is a treatment program, consisting of exercises that stimulate the cerebellum. They say they offer this for ADHD, Dyslexia, dsypraxia, and maybe some others. Check out the site for more information. My son will be starting in December, after the Bender program.
Buyer beware?Logan-
My son is taking 2 ambrotose capsules in the morning and 2 in the evening. He is also taking 4 manna bears in the moring and 4 in the evening. We are continuing to see progress.
