I am new to the board and to the diagnosis of ADHD. My son is in kindergarten and has been having problems catching up to the rest of the kids since he started. We are taking him to tutoring classes which has helped, but he still continues to struggle with focus and concentration. The school psychologist wants to have him screened for ADHD. He also has several food allergies, asthma and excema. We recently brought him into a natural medicine doctor to do blood tests so we can start an elimination diet. We are waiting for the results but know from past tests as a baby that he is allergic to milk and eggs among other things. We obviously want to do everything we can to help him, but we would first like to explore options that do not require medication. Has anyone tried any of the natural supplements advertised on the board like "Focus" by Natural Remedies? Do any of these work or are they just scams?
Check out the Alternative & Complementary Medicine board, there is a ton of information there. Find the Naturopathic doctors thread, and start with that one. Come join us on the Alternatives to Meds section of this board. Many of us are either going through what you are, or have gone through it.... lots of us use elimination diets, as well as supplements. Try starting with the Latest Omega thread and the thread entitled "Magnesium." Welcome! It took me awhile to get back here. Thanks for the information and advice. I will check out the website and the other bulletin board.
