Ours are really quite cute and are fast tree climbers. They quite often will come down just after dark and you can hand feed them 
They only get feral when caught in a cage, and that's fair enough.
Ours are like scary little prehistoric monsters really. My dog runs them down without mercy but they lay down and play dead when he catches them - playing possum!Anyway they are hard and pale and hiss. Ugly beasts. Slow too. Not much of a challenge for the dog who is in reality a fur rocket!
Kaks, a wombat is an animal. Its one of our native animals actually.
While I'm here, the possums in America look very different to ours. Our are really cute, yours look a bit scary.
