Work didn’t look so bad to me | ADHD Information

I mentioned on another thread that my son's teacher had called me a few days ago.  One of her comments was that he had pretty much wasted 8 weeks of school.  Well, he brought home all his classbooks today.  And while some of his marks were not too good, I really didn't think his work was all that bad.  It is neat more than most of the time.  His colouring in is excellent.  I felt a few concerns with his Grade 2 revision work (He's in Grade 3 now).  This is part of my homework with him and he knows the work when I do it with him yet these marks were the weaker one's.    I don't even want to try and figure that one out.

Needless to say, despite her kind phone call compounding my already deep concerns, I have to say that I am proud of his work.  Poor marks too!  I can see that even if he does nothing else, he consistently tries very hard.

As a reward, I am going to do something fun like play General Knowledge which he loves doing with me.

It's amazing to me the level of accomplishment expected of kids in the lower grades. I sure wasn't writing book reports in 1st grade, but that's what my DS is doing!

It's so great that you can see your son's work for the good work that it is. I think teachers can be so stressed about getting everyone "up to level" test-wise, that they can miss the other stuff.

I'm meeting with my DS's teacher this afternoon.  Sure hope she doesn't offer any zingers like yours did.  How was that constructive at all?

Oh, well. Maybe she just had a bad day.

You are right!  It was all stuff I knew already, so how was it constuctive?  Sigh - it had to happen though!

Best of luck with your meeting later - please let us know how it went!
