Side Effect--Fast Heartbeat | ADHD Information

Share

I do have fast beatings once in a while for no reason. (wellbutrin)
I started to exercise and my heartbeat was 150 a minute...Then my body got used to exercising...And it didn't go up that high again.

I think chest pain, arm or back pain even a pain in the neck is not good. If it's bothersome you should see your doc.

Do any of you also have the side effect of a fast heartbeat (greater than 100 beats per minute) from taking Adderall XR or other stimulants? I do...I can still exercise vigorously, right?

Also, is it ok to have a fast heartbeat and have chest pain occasionally, for a short period of time?

The Chest Pain needs to be Reported to your Doctor as it could be a warning sign of excessive stress.

A resting heartbeat of more than 100 bpm  is called tachycardia.  This is not a healthy condition.. along with the chest pains you could be letting yourself get into a dangerous situation if gone unchecked.

Please let your doc know of this side effect As soon as possible.... and, um, no, I wouldnt excercise until you get that HR down.. I think the average is 80 for an adult, but the range is 60 - 100.

mine ranges between 73 - 83, that includes the time I'm on meds or off.

Please take care of yourself.

LOL. =)

thanks. and yes, my primary doctor does know about the tachycardia.

thanks.

I felt a high heartbeat (100 to 110bpm) the first 4 weeks.  Only about a half hour after the meds kicked in - and what I took as pain can be more like pressure during that time.  Like a person standing on my chest during the actual beating.

It scared me but after talking with my MD he told me to stay the course and that it was normal.  My blood pressure was actually very good and it was much like I was working out when it hit.  Very good analogy actually as it's your body releasing epinephrine (adrenaline) and you aren't used to it when at rest.

Working out during this particular phase should be done with care.  But generally exercise is good for you just do it with your doctor's knowledge and the ok after they check your blood pressure and pulse.  Do try to take your med when an appointment is coming up and try to get the rapid heartbeat to hit when you are in the office.  That would give the perfect indication.

Soon you'll be fine.  Now my heart is about 60 to 70bpm at rest and about 80 to 90 during work and at some points of my med.  For a guy nearly 40 my blood pressure and heartbeat is like someone younger.  Even better considering I still smoke (though less than a pack a day).  I feel pretty spry for my age and I am in better shape now than at 18.  OK I was in awful shape then but hey! LOL!!
