Suggested Dose for IR Adderall | ADHD Information

I have the same experience with the Adderall XR not lasting long enough into my day. I am very pleased with the results while they last (about 7-8 hours), however I am not productive at home in the evenings. I have just recently added Strattera, taking it between 12:00pm and 1:00pm (lunch time) and can already tell a difference at home in the evenings. I am very pleased with this combo so far.

I too tried adding the IR Adderall and found it worked OK, but also found I was not eating dinner. And not eating dinner just makes for another meal I don't already eat. So, we are trying the combo of Adderal XR and Strattera instead and so far I am still eating dinner. Now, if only I could find a way to eat one other solid meal durring the day :)

actually 8 hours of reasonable control is pretty good.  6 hours is about average.  You could take a dose at 6 (though if you work/study at 8 or 9 I'd wait) then another at noon safely.  The meds will "overlap" and you'll get added focus in mid-day.

Add IR only under MD's consent and understanding of your problems ok?

I am with you Baileygirl.  I was on Straterra for over a year.  I hated it but was reluctant to try stimulant medication just for fear of physical and psychological dependence.  I have now been on Adderall XR for about 2 months and I don't eat much either.  I just don't think I want to go back to Straterra.  Actually, I have been eating a little something at lunch time and that seems to help a lot so I am going to stick with that.

Hmm.....sometimes it helps me to take a 1/4 10 mg tablet of IR Adderall around 1 or 2, since I feel the same loss of focus around that time as well.

Sometimes it's ok, but some days, it makes me a jumpy nervous wreck....heart palpitations, tingly skin, etc.  I'm thinking of just waiting to take my xr until I get to work, around 8:00am when it's not so busy yet, and that way it'll last a while longer after lunch.  I'm going to ask my doc about trying out concerta when I go back next month too...I want to see what the difference is.

Do all these stimulants cause extremly dry mouth?  I know that's not good for your teeth/gums and causes bad breath. lol 

Hi all, I have posted a couple of times and just wanted to know what others experiences have been with taking an Adderall IR in the middle of the day?  Right now I am on Adderall XR 30mg but it doesn't seem to do the trick for me all day.  I take it at about 6:00am and it seems to last until about 1:00 or 2:00 and then I lose my focus which wanes until about 7:00 when I either crash or am a complete irritable, hyperactive wreck.

I was thinking that either an IR tab around 2:00 would be great or a lower dose of the XR around 2:00 would also suffice.  I have tried taking 1 30 mg at my usual time and then another at around 2:00 and the second dose is just too much but a smaller dose of the XR might be OK.  I don't know though what the class II controlled substance laws are regarding this and I worry about dependency issues, which is why I resisted any medication until about 2 years ago when I started on Straterra.  Any suggestions or experience with this would be fantastic.  Thanks in advance.
