Drug testing?? | ADHD Information

I have been stewing over the strattera thing.  The longer I have stewed over it, the more concerned I get.  With all the bad withdraws my son had and the thoughts he had while on it, I am starting to wonder how the company Lilly tests these products before they get approved by the FDA.  Does any one know?Hmmmm...now just sit and watch a few commercials on ANY and yes I mean ANY prescribed drug and you get side effects. I have struggled with this issue for quite some time. Needless to say I've come to the conclusion that there ARE side effects with any medication....yes ANY. My mother found her 'wonder drug' as she called it and it was VIOXX (spelling might be wrong here) and low and behold this 'wonder drug' as my mom called it was withdrawn (voluntarily by the co.) because of possible stroke/heart attacks. ARGHHHH! So you see I have a very BIG concern when it even comes to aspirin. And the end result...NOBODY 'really' knows the side effects UNTIL they happen now do they? NOTE: Just my opinion: please take no offense to this.

I would take anything on wikipedia with a grain of salt.  It's all user contributions and they often get false info which is only removed when enough people disagree.  After all wiki stands for What I Know Is - it's opinion not fact.

Most damage caused by meds in animal testing must be treated with the knowledge that it's often given in massive doses that would be near fatal if a human did it.  Take saccharin for example - the animal tests that made saccharin first banned then restricted gave rats 10,000 times the normal dose.  That's like 10,000 spoonfulls of saccharin to us!! Got a sweet tooth anyone?!?

Stratterra is showing signs that some people are succeptible to problems.  Not a lot but enough.  There will always be a group of people in any population that have side effects that are undesirable.  Only getting it out there will find it.  Like Viagra - they now find that some men can become blind using it - but now they figure that it's with abuse of it (taking it every day) that causes most of the cases.  Same with priapism (not stopping erection).  We all know that using a med wrong causes trouble but you dont' see the nightly news making that a big part of any fear-monger story do you?

.IMac38947.4678703704i think so, but they test hair products on animals.  i don't know what the animal rights think.  is there any one on here you know of that is big into animal rights?.IMac38947.4676273148i don't know about straterra, but adderall was proven to cause irreversible nerve fiber damage in lab rats!!(wikipedia)

NO KIDDING???  that's scary.  what about strattera?  I am wondering if they tested it on animals.  and if they have some long term effects.  The drug is considerably new to the market, but only after 2 years they already have some serious class action law suits against them.
