Hey, I am a 21 year old who has been know about my Add since I was 7 years old. I have been on and off Ritalin at least 4 times, and last year I tried Dexedrine, but at first it was so harsh that I discontinued it and went back on ritialin. I desided a little later to try the dexagain but at a much lower dose and it seemed to work on me. I did go back on ritalin for about 5 months but desided it did jack all. I am basicly worried about one thing with the Dex, has anyone ever expirenced like a tingling feeling at the top of there head? And I do find my heart rate does go up a bit... Are these things normal? I just know not to play around with this stuff, and I failed to ask my doctor about this when I got the perscription yesterday. I will ask in a month when I go back, for further evaluation, however until then I want to hear if anyone else has ever expirenced any symptoms with tingling and heart rate increasing?
Amanda
Tingling in the extremeties (head, hands, feet) and heart rate increasing are 2 of the normal side effects for many. They both go away within the first month. I've been taking Dexedrine spanules (XR) for almost a year and a half now. After month one it was nearly gone completely.
Give it the month and you'll see them lessened considerably or gone. Keep an eye out for symptoms that you aren't eating properly or getting enough water like jittery feelings, anxiety or other related difficulties. Also you may get cramping or temporary impotence but again they lessen or go away soon. The cramping I still get occasionally (my MD believes it's IBS brought on by the dex) but there is a cheap med called dicetel that deals with it if it shows up again.
