HI,
Thank you for your answers,
joemom, I didn't want to try adderal because of the risk i read about it.
I gave him 27 mg instead of 36 this morning and it is better, he is not very happy today, he is crying for nothing but i think it is because he is very tired form his previous night.
I left a message to the psychiatrict today, i will talk with him about it.
Thank's
Nath mom to David 5
what was he doing with his mouth?...sometimes after a "drug" holiday you will get calmer reaction...but this sounds like it was a bit too much...you may want to talk to your doctor because if the concerta did not help with the focus, this may not be the drug for you...my son took concerta also and while it did slow him down, it did not fully help with focus...we switched to Adderall and the focus is 100% better...when we were on the concerta/ritalin type drugs we had to keep increasing frequently to get the effect.
it seems to me that all kids respond differently to these meds, what works for one kid may not work for another...
Is Concerta one of the meds where the dose is moved up slowly? If so it could of been too hard on him to go right up to the effective dose. I am not familiar with that med.The mouth moving is in all likelihood a tic. You need to check with your doctor. My 12-year-old son developed a mouth-opening tic on Concerta. I'm guessing you should start the Concerta back at 18 mg and work up slowly. Maybe the dose is too high.Hello,
I'm new to your group and i need advice!
My 5 y old son is taking Cocnerta 36 mg since december and he still has problems with his attention, but he has been very sick for 2 weeks and i didn't give him his medication during that time and he was fine at home. So he returned to school last thursday without med and it was fine, but on friday ..... He was very excited and the teacher wasn't happy, so yesterday i gave him his concerta for the first time since 2 weeks, he was so calm, i was afraid and he started to do something with his mouth during all the day.....at bed time he was unable to sleep, it was almost 2h00 am when he finally asleep.
What happened????is this because he was 2 weeks without the medication and it was too much for him?
Thank's for your advice
