One of the reasons, several years ago, I took my son off of Adderall was because his heart rate was so fast it was difficult to count.
Just a fast heart rate alone isn't generally leathal, however the heart does perfuse itself with blood during the diastolic period of the heartbeat and the faster the heart rate the less blood perfusion and oxygen it gets. If you have any underlying cardiovascular disease you could feel chest tightness related to lack of oxygen to the heart muscle.
Also women in general have been know to have coronary artery spasms which could be exacerbated by taking stimulants. Their coronaries are clean but they have coronary artery constriction which causes decresed blood supply to the heart muscle thereby causing chest tightness related to lack of oxygen to the heart.
One thing I would suggest would be to always make sure you are very well hydrated. Keeping your blood vessles plump, so to speak, is good when on any medication that causes artery constriction.
oh...im on 10mg adderal xr by the wayHi,
I have been on adderal for about a year now. No problems. I run, and on sunday I had a long run and it was very cold. I think the front of my neck and chest got a cold (which has happened before). Yesterday and today I took my adderal for the weekday as regularly I do, and I felt wierd in my chest. Higher heartbeat, and a little pressure in the head. I dont know if its the cold or the meds. Any advice? Thanks
JOE:)
Hmm....I have had a couple of days I felt like that too. I've only been on it (Same dose as you) for a few weeks now. I'm curious what others that have been on it for a while have to say.
