Hi! I'm new here.
My 6.5 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD in December. He started with Strattera (20 mg) but that was quickly increased to 40 mg. He has been doing fine with his dose. He still has his moments, but it is SO much better than before the diagnosis.
Well, school started 2 weeks ago, and we have had nothing but problems.
His new teacher is wonderful, but he gets in trouble daily for talking, not sitting still, being impulsave & not listining. He is doing great with his school work. He is learning! He is in 1st grade, and got a 100 on his first spelling test. and a 90 on the second! He just does not adjust well. and I'm thinking he is still trying to figure out a few things.
I called his Dr last week when he got 3 U's in conduct. His Dr recomended continuing with the Strattera, but start giving it to him at dinner time, than adding 5mg of Ritilin in the morning.
Has anyone else tired this? I was waiting until the weekend to start the ritilin just to make sure he does OK.
Thanks!
Megan
Hi Megan, welcome to this wonderful site--it is full of loads of helpful info. My son is on Adderall by itself, but there are numerous messages from others that have had success with a combination of meds. Check out previous replies; seems like Strattera mixed with a stimulant has had positive outcomes. Good luck. Bekah
