I take the XR at around 8:00 in the morning and then an afternoon dose or the regular adderall at 3:30 to 4:00. The XR only last 7 to 8 hours for me.
If I took only the regular Adderall (Adderall SR) then I would have to take 3 doses a day. Also I've found that the generic just dosen't seem to work as well for me.
I've been reading lots of posts of people taking the XR version or the short acting version. Has anyone who's been taking the XR switched to the regular? And how do you like it? Here's the problem....I'm taking Adderall XR 20 in the morning. I feel great when it kicks in and usually maintain that for a few hours. However, around 2:00, i start feeling sluggish and edgy. It's like I don't feel the afternoon dose kick in like I do the morning dose. So my doc added 10 mg of the short acting formula in the afternoon. But I'm wondering, if the short acting formula would just be better for me to take 2 of those spaced 4 hours apart instead of the XR and an immediate release later. Any thoughts? Plus, the immediate release comes in generic form and is soooo much cheaper than the XR. (I don't have any health insurance now due to a divorce.) Angela, it depends what time in the morning you take the XR. Do you take before 9 or 10? If so, then you're still getting more than 8 hours/day medication, right?
Ah, the life of 'trial and error.' Good luck!GypsyWomyn38803.5175694444
