Trouble sleeping with Ritlan? | ADHD Information

Share
Ok, I just got dianosed Monday that I have ADHD and started on 20 mg  of Ritlan. I  feel a whole lot better and I am calmer and can concentrate much much better. I dont have that much hunger which is good cuz I just quit smoking a week ago.

Now,  my question is this,,,,,,what do I do or what will my doc give me or say about me not being able to fall asleep at night?  I mean I lay there and think then go on the computer or soemthign and it takes me two hours to finaly fall asleep. I take   10mg  in the morning  then 5 mg at noon and then Im ssuppose to take 5 mg at 3   but have taken it like at 5 or 6 pm.

I am having trouble falling asleep at night, but once I do sleep I sleep good.  Any advice? I don't see my doc until a month from now (VA  hospital).  Thanks!  Pauline

For what it's worth - I don't take Ritalin after 5PM because I have the same problem falling asleep.

Remember, it takes about a hour to become fully effective (give or take), so if you need the effects Ritalin in the evening, taking it at 4PM at the latest should be good until 8-9PM.

I've also found that the side effects seem to be more pronounced when first taking Ritalin (for the 1st time or after a drug "holiday") so I usually go easy and then only take a PM dose after a week or so of taking it during the day.
