Do lights and smells wig you out?

As soon as I walk into my Doctor's office the pungent aroma of chemically altered magnolias and rose petals slap me in the face. Immediately my all too familiar bubble starts to encase my head. I write my name on the list and tell them I'm there somehow. Then I float over to the waiting room where the florescent lights start harassing me causing my eyeballs to do jigs.

I really hate this demension because everything is muffled and people look at me like I just made balloon animals out of my lips.

My question is-- does this happen to all of us? Is it an ADDy thing?

.IMac38943.8624074074 I think it 's most definantly an ADDy thing, I am bothered by
repeditive sounds, and some smells. light doesn't seem to bother me.
There was a thread a while back about lights

I am on board.  smells have always bothered me, but when i was pregnant it was worse.

lights.  man i have about ten pairs of sunglasses or I can function.  I have even worn them at night to stop the glare of car lights.

Yes!  They do me. The smells always have bothered me, but once my health to much worse (last few months), they are just about unbareable!  I have a lampburger and i have to delute the oil down to where my dh cannot smell it, but I sure can!!  lights, yep, they are not as bad though.  I don't like having the direct light.  I just thought it was all the meds i take, i guess not.

After joining this forum, I dxed myself with sensory issues .  Flourescent lights absolutely bug me out.  Can't stand them.  One of the things that made me buy the house I now live in is the fact that we have floor-to-ceiling windows on one side of the house, so we get a tremendous amount of natural light.  Smells?  It's my most intense sense, and I can smell things long before anyone else does.  I cannot stand certain perfumes, potpourris, and cleaning products.  I absolutely cannot be in a room that has been cleaned with Lysol.

I do not have ADHD, but my son's psychiatrist says I have some traits, not the disorder, just traits.  ADHD definitely runs in my family.

Oh!  I just figured out this post does not not say "Do light smells wig u out"  I thought we were talking about smelling lights.  I thought yall were smelling lights.  Maybe if the light was too hot, but I don't really smell them.   OK, lights can wig me out.  When I walk into stores, the lights make me feel dizzy.  Sounds bother me too, I love noise, but can only take so much then I am on overload and have to have quiet.  yeah, and patterns too.  Too many patterns around make me physically ill Lights don't bother me.  However, I have always been bothered by smells.  Certain candles, potpurris, and perfumes really bother me.  Cleaning products don't.

Not DX'd with anything but don't get me started on smells, certain humming noises and Flourescent lights.  I have to have very bright light in the room I'm in but I get the "natural" bulbs. First thing in the morning I open every blind/window treatment in the house.  Can't stand a cave-like house....hmmm...but I love exploring caves.

  You're funny!

I have the same thing happen when I go into stores so I rarely go shopping. Makes my husband happy I'm sure!

Flickering flourescent lamps, screen flicker from slow monitors, and sunlight through trees in the morn/evening while driving can 'wig me out', as well as deep bass from stereos or machinery. Smell rarely does unless i'm starving at the time( i forget to eat too).

It seems like there are so many similarities between us, ADD or not. It's so neat to find out!

Thanks so much for all the replies. I need to do some more research on sensory issues. I think I need glasses like IMac's to help me do it!

Yesterday I went to the same Doctor's office and it smelled like berries this time which was much more tolerable but those lights! It was a meds follow up and I left diagnosed with Walking Pneumonia!  Whoosh!

Life is so interesting.

P.s.  Ogram, What kind of lamp is a lampburger? I know it's oil by what you said about it but I've never heard that term. I even looked it up on Google and can't find it!

I have a feeling I should already know but I'm so curious!

i think i spelled it out wrong. It's Lampe Berger here's the link:

http://www.lampeberger.com/

Wow! I would not have known! They're so beautiful.

Thank you so much!

Repairman! I forget to eat all the time too! Or drink. I have a note sitting on the table that says "eat & drink" and then I forget to look at it! I'm pretty sure it's the stimulants because I used to LOVE food.

Do you think there are people out there that function perfectly fine under the circumstances you mentioned? I know I don't. In fact, I don't even drive right now because of the instant fog.

I always ask my husband if something is normal or not and most of the time it's not!

I had no idea we were that different! No idea!
