Hello
Having discovered this wonderful forum - I am posting about my 4 year old grandbaby that had been diag with ODD and I strongly think she also has ADHD-
I have her permanently but the therapist she had seen for 2 plus years would not commit to ADHD- which runs in the fathers side and ADD on the mothers side...after much research and living with the behaviors for quite some time, I am strongly convinced of the ADHD-
we are in process of getting a new therapist and hope to see some releif soon. We have run the gamut of behaviors - the therapist also would not prescribe medications saying she was too young (at 4 1/2) and a "high motor child" and we should adjust to her. There are other young children in the house. And it has become apparent that I can not work fulltime (altho I need to) she can not tolerate a daycare setting for a full day...but there isnt anything more important that these children.
She doesnt sleep much, wanders the house at night- eats everything- breaks everything- but its not in anger- talks too fast and cant slow down...has a hard time obeying and listening....
I have high hopes for the future....
MamaCat you sound like such caring loving person.
Where their is hope in a child the child will not feel hopeless. I wish that I had had someone in my life that had always believed in me growing up.
You sound like you are in a dilemma! We are all there with you so take heart. Your grandbaby is too young for meds - but she still sounds like a lovely kid.
She is lucky to have a grandparent that is so understanding of her conditions - my childrens grandparents are completely ignorant and show no interest in understanding.
So all my love goes out to you.
