mixing medications | ADHD Information

I was diagonsed w/ADD a year ago this march.  My doctor is very good about letting me try different medications. My 2 favorites are Adderall and Ritalin LA- The problem is after about a week the LA irritates my stomach and after several weeks the Adderall causes mild to serious insomnia.  I am currently using 20mg's of metadate which I find useless, as well as 10 mg of the traditional ritalin as a back up for when the metadate passes it's effectivess.

I want to quit the metadate and ask my doctor if I can rotate the LA and the Adderall throughout the week as a way of minimizing their side effects. Has anyone else heard of doctors allowing this? Or of any reasons why I shouldn't do it?

I am curious if you have tried eating somethng with the Ritalin LA?  My son used to like to eat a soft cereal bar with medications (ritalin, Concerta, Ritalin LA).

I took LA for a month I always took it with breakfast. When my stomach began to get upset I tried eating it with other things - like focusing on the protein, but it didn't work.  I don't get the same side effect with ritalin, or concerta. But I need something that works all day and conceta gave me the shakes.
