Remembering Meds | ADHD Information

Ds is proud to say that he is finally remembering to take meds in the morning without reminders.  I finally broke down and put a dollar bill by his pill case every morning which he can have if he takes his meds by a certain time.  Money talks! He likes getting his allowance this way better than having to remind me.
I likened it to if he remembers to take his meds as an adult then he will probably get paid on pay day.  "Aw Ma!" he said.
What a great idea! I give my son (12) his meds at 8AM when he comes down to leave for school. If he takes them too soon, they wear off before school is out. I need to start putting the burden on him to do it. How old is your son, jfla2?

What about siblings? I guess I could pay my non-adhd son (14) to take his instrument upstairs and not leave it in the middle of the kitchen every day after school. I trip on it every other day!

I think I would use a chart, because I never have that many 's.  I'm so unorganized!  Maybe I should start rewarding myself for doing some things that I forget or dread or put off. Hmmm....

What should we reward ourselves and our kids for?  What should we reward ourselves and our kids with?

my son is 17 and this med management thing is a goal I gave him at the beginning oof the school year...to be completed by the end of the school year.  charts don't live past one or two weeks in this house.  The novelty wears off and I could probably come up with lots of reasons why I have abandoned them.  But I did install a small shelf at eye level by his bedroom door with hooks below.  It has clear plastic cubes on the shelf to store all essentials for the day.(basically all the stuff he leaves all over the house. watch keys cellphone wallet etc.)   So he has to walk by his meds in the morning on the way to the bathroom.  It is hard for him to pass up a dollar bill waving in his face.    Later he will have to do it two days in a row to get a bit more than ...and so on.

I am so lucky with my 8yr old son.  I give him his first tablet which he takes with him to school and takes it as class begins.  The second tablet I put in his lunch bag with his second break treat and he has not forgotten it yet.  I feel very proud that I am able to place this responsibility on him.I love your idea.  My son is 15 and occasionally forgets to take his pills.  This would be a fantastic incentive to help him remember.   Thanks for sharing your idea.
