Dismissal from SE | ADHD Information

Has anyone's child improved to the point that the IEP or ARD team dismissed them from SE? If so at what age did they start SE, and at what age were they dismissed?This happened to my son when he went from Early Childhood to Kindergarten. They sighted the fact that he could read (he had hyperlexia) and he had no LD's, although IQ tested on the low side. His autistic symptoms had sort of abated. Kindergarten was ok, but I knew he still needed help and would struggle in 1st grade. He did, and we homeschooled him for 1 1/2 years. Now, with a full diagnosis, he has all sorts of help/interventions. It was very tough when they decided he no longer needed services with us knowing that he did...you may need an advocate to fight for your child. They are free and available to everyone. Call your State Dept. of Public Education and ask for the Special Needs Advocate, if you want to pursue it.
