I completely agree, time outs work for mostly everything except being late, fighting with sibs, poor phone calls from school, being inappropriate in community, and doing poorly in school, as well morning and bedtime behavior. So you do need other consequences like grounding, loss of priveleges for a short time, and restitution if they break things. I would hope they'd learn life skills through learning to take care of themselves, getting dressed, being trusted in the community, learning to bake and manage money. They also learn coping skills from us, as well as social skills.   ; momiss238813.467349537I spoke to a parent in Path who says when a child is misbehaveing send to their room so they can calm down and then give them something to do. She does this with her 2 who both have fragile x. She said are job also as a parent is to give our kids life skills training. Her kids are of adult age.She says it works. Love and Logic is a program that teaches kids to have responsibility for their actions and mistakes. I love this program. It is very logical in its approach to dicsiplining children.
