adderall and hives | ADHD Information

Well I never read anywhere about it beign a precurser to death!  But I just hope its not chronice becasue some can be.  I just hope it goes away soon.  Its been 3 days already.  Adderall was a weird drug for me.  It also made me depressed.

I've been reading that adderall can cause hives as an allergic reaction.  Well I stoped taking adderall about a week ago and no I have an extreme case of hives all over my body and its just now that I noticed that adderall can cause it.  I'm using barr adderall.  Is it common for the allergic reaction to occure after u stop taking the adderall?

Thanks for the instant reply  " scary bad" is a good way to put it  I am going to rifle through my house right now and see what I got...

google it.  U need to take sleep aid medicines with a diphedrine chemicle in it and a anti histimine like claritin.  That stuff took my hives to scarry bad to nothing at all.  They of course wear off but at least they work.

Hives often come from a drastic change like added anxiety or removing a substance from our diet or adding it.  This is the season for pollen and dust coming in so keep that in mind.

IF you are off the adderall it won't be the med but could be removing it that does it.  IF you are for sure not using it then check and see if benedryl (actually any allergy/sinus med ending in "dryl") is ok for you.  They give benedryl at the hospital for hives.

Topical cortisone works for mild hives.  All cases of hives should be checked though because often it's a precursor to anaphylactic shock.  Death in other words.  Not always but better to be safe...

I get hives at work when I come in contact to dried detergent on boxes covered in dust.  It starts where it touches me and works up around my neck as a necklace shape.  Very scary.  Now I take claritin (safe for us) and it helps keep it away.

It never stops amazing me how useful this message board is...I have been taking adderall for a year now and just a couple of weeks ago I started breaking out also. I thought it was just a case of acne at first...then I thought it was just a turn of shingles after a few more days my wife suggested they were "boils" I never had anything like this so I am not sure.  Then today I read your post and now I am thinking "hives" ? 

My scrip. is adderall xr 30mg 1 @ am daily  &  ritalin 20mg 1@ pm daily as needed.... I tend to skip my adderall dose a couple days every week and take only the ritalin...I take the adderall in place of the ritalin on Sat & Sun ...this has been working well for me and my doc says it's fine...

If "whatever" this is doesn't clear up soon I am going to see my doc about it...I am nervous about finding out I have developed an allergic reaction and will have to stop taking these meds cause this past year has been the best year of my life I can't begin to imagine what I would be like without my daily dose 

Do you (or anyone reading this) have any suggestions for treatment...what is a hive? what is a boil?
