An interesting ADHD treatment | ADHD Information

I have done simple exercises from the book Stopping ADHD by O'Dell and Cook.  They have helped me tremendously.  It doesn't cost much, just your time and the cost of the book.  They do take 8 months to complete.  I very strictly limit my son's computer game playing.  Have there been recommendations to allow the adhd'ers to play computer or video games??!

I always feel ike he watches too much television and giving him access to video games just seems like asking for more trouble.

I will have to talk to our new Dr about this.

My Dh and I were watching the news yesterday morning and they had this cool treatment to help children with ADHD learn to focus and concentrate.  What happens is the child sits in front of a computer screen wearing a special hhat that is connected to the computer.  In the screen is a bird.  The child has to sit and watch the bird .  As the child focuses on the bird it begins to rise into the air and fly.  If at anytime the child looses focus or even silghtly glances away the bird will start to decend from the sky.  the object is for the child to keep the bird flying in the air by focusing on the bird mother cardinal38816.9313657407Suonds like great idea, but my girl play comp. games that are 3D and needs a lot focus to won, and then when she needs to focus on homework she failed.IMac38945.6220949074

Does it work?

It sounds alot like Bio feedback.  My experience is that biofeedback can be helpful but it can be expensive and time consuming.

my son's neurofeedback therapy with his neuro psychologist involves these types of computer programs.  he doesn't wear a hat - she attaches wires to various parts of his scalp.

so far the sessions have been working!
