they put andrew on seroquel (sp) 1/2 a 25mg tab a night. I am hoping that it will really help. If not then I think I officially quit life.Hang in there Kristyolk....I sure hope the mood stabilizer works for you... sounds like you have your hands full. When will you be finished with school? My daughter has had similar reactions to both Zoloft and Prozac. She does very well as long as she is on Depakote. I hope that you will have a good experience with the Seroquel. Good luck!Hi Kristy, sorry about the manic reaction to Zoloft. It happened to my son, too. He's now on the mood stabilizers Depakote and Lamictal -- doing a bit better, but we still have a ways to go. Hope things improve for you all soon -- it's a long road, but try to take it one day at a time.
Seeeee, another bad thing about Zoloft. I recently refused to put my son on Zoloft, and his psychiatrist got ticked at me, but I keep reading about kids flipping out on Zoloft. lillian38818.307650463
Well I knowI haven't been here a lot lately but life is crazy. My son had a manic reaction to Zoloft in his first week on it and the bouncing everywhere and not listening were just a couple of the reactions to it. I was going crazy and honestly it was too much to handle. With the end of semester coming up I am also swamped in school work and am really struggling with my paper for school. Sigh. Usually not this hard for me. I guess my stars are not in alignment right now. I fell hard a couple weeks ago and ended up in the ER we were sure I had broke my arm but luckily it is just a bad bruise. Son is a bit better off the Zoloft but still very blatantly disobedient and mean. WE finally got back into the psychiatrist yesterday and they are starting him on a mood stabilizer. hopefully this helps. I am at my wits end and just can not keep doing this with this child. We are entering the season where my DH will not be home much he leaves at 5 AM every day and soon will not be home until 8 PM. WE usually see him around 6 in the winter. This summer I am taking 2 college classes have three kids home and if he continues this way I will be certifiable crazy. I ust hope that things level out soon. He has been off for a long time and the fact that the child is so willful with me makes things worse. No method of discipline seems to work. I am out of ideas.
hello kristyolk, sorry to hear your son had a reaction to zoloft..
i hope the mood stab.works for him...what did the doctor put him on? man you really have alot going on in your life..i give you credit
we have the same problem with dillon.. no method of discipline works for him either... his therapist said until we get the medication under control then it really would be hard to discipline.. i truly feel for you... i was prescribed zoloft for ptsd....it made me a 'zombie ', i don't take it anymore....kristy, i am sorry it had that affect on ur son.....Thanks guys...To stay on track I will be taking 2 classes over the summer and a full load next year just to finish my associates in arts. Then I have probably another 3 years to finish off the bachelors. I can not do the classes full time for that because the college is so far away but..... Maybe somday I will finish. It seems forever and hopeless here lately
