his appt for assessment for spd isnt till the end of july but EPIC is bringing an OT to see what they think the end of next month. im not sure what to think, there are days he shows signs of SPD then there aren't, he is also EXTREMELY active (even more than i would think for a normal 2 yr old), temper is horrific and a bunch of other stuff. he is delayed in speech as well as some other areas which i cant remember what right now. i do think he will eventually get diagnosed with hyperactivity because he has always been more active than normal. but im still looking for what age they do testing for it, i have a 5 yr old daugter who may be showing mild signs of it (or just the extremly ytalkative girl, will not be quiet for even a sec most of the time). but thanks, i will look into the neuropsychologist. I had my child tested at age 4...you can take her to a private psychologist or neuropsych if the school is not willing to testOur son was tested and diagnosed at three.  Most say this is too young to tell -- we have a strong family history (another great place to start looking as there seems to be a genetic prediliction to the disorder) and we were pretty confident that is what we were dealing with.  Good luck to you and hope you find the answers you seek.My daughter's ADHD showed up at home during her preschool years.  I tried to get her diagnosed at age 3 and again at age 4.  Both professionals stated that she was too young to diagnose.  However, we were not aware of there being a family history (I was recently diagnosed with ADD).  She did fine in kindergarten, but by mid-year in first grade she was starting to experience more difficulty, as she was required to settle down and concentrate more.  At this point she was officially diagnosed.  Welcome!  If there are speech delays, sensory issues and hyperactivity, you may actually be looking at high-functioning autism, rather than ADHD.  You might want to check wth an autism clinic at a children's or university hospital for an evaluation.  A neuropsychologist, also found at children's and university hospitals, may also help with evaluating your daughter (now that she's older) for ADHD and beyond.  Good luck!  hi katarri i am  new to the board too  you might want to seek a behavior specialist it is helping me and myand my grandson my granson started young like your they can be tested for early intervention seek a behaviordoctor because i know they dont start until 7 in boston.Hello, im new to the board and am curious, me and my brother were both diagnosed hyperactive when we were young. now i have 2 children, 2 1/2 yr old boy and 5 yr old girl, and i personally think 1 or both may be adhd. at what age do they do tests for adha in children and who should i go to? my daughter does real well in school says the teachers but at home she shows signs i think. my boy is in process of getting diagnosed to see if he has SPD but the appt isnt for a while.  he is severl delayed in speech and my daughter was too but was greatly helped by the school system.  any information will help.
