Tell her (the art teacher) its the LAW and to deal with your " hyper kid"...This teacher needs to take some responsibility this is HER JOB and every kid is her responsibility even the hyper kids......this teacher is way off base....
your child probably realizes that this teacher is a PIA and so he is acting accordingly

We did ask him why he had such a problem in art. He says that he just doesnt like it. we have tried to do art projects at home he will participate just fine. Has a great rime then loves to show off his art work. Spoke with principal she suggests that maybe the teacher needs to be more understanding with my adhder because he really just cant stay focused while he helping 20 other kids. She also suggest that mybe we should remove him from art and let him have PE two days a week. Not sure what to do but we are willing to give it a try.
Ruben's Mom38819.8565740741I agree with joemom dealing with the children is her job.did you ask DS6 why art is a stumbling block? my DS6 had this issue with PE, and my DH is a PE teacher! so we spoke to him and tried to encourage him, and finally, he is participating (before, he'd just sit on the side and watch and not want to join in).
perhaps you can get art supplies for home use and leave it out - i have an easel where the kids can go and paint. i also have a dry erase board. i have a small plastic drawer organizer that has paint, brushes, paper, origami paper, scissors, glue, etc. perhaps you could do some artwork with him. i borrow books from the library with different crafts that you can make from ordinary things. i have also borrowed books about famous artists.
art are my kids' favorite subject, and my DS6 expresses himself best in art (he has adhd).
i am new to discussion board! I am the mother of 6 yr. old with ADHD. He is on ritalin twice a day. He goes to a different activity class everyday. (art, PE, computers, & lib.) He does well in all except art. Everytime he goes to art He ends up with discipline notice. We have tried behavior/reward system not working. We have tried talking to his teacher. She says that she doesnt have time to deal with Hyper child in art!! Any suggestions?
