adderall xr versus ir | ADHD Information

i was on adderall 20 xr and 5 ir in the afternoon. i told my doctor that the xr is only lasting 5 maybe 6 hours at most so i'm supposed to staart taking 30mg ir split four ways at 5am,9am,1pm and 5pm. does anyone have experiences with the ir being better than xr?I agree with jonquiljo!  I took XR for 6 months and was only getting 5 hours max.  So I started supplementing with IR in the afternoon. My thing is, if you're gonna take more than 1 pill a day, why not just take the IR 4 hours apart.  Plus it's a LOT cheaper than XR because XR does not come in generic.  And from all the posts I've read and other Adults with ADD that I've talked to, hardly anyone that has been on XR for more than a few months gets more than 4-5 hours out of it.  Anyway, just my thoughts.  Yes, XR only lasted me about 4-5 hours - so I took it twice  day.  I tried IR at 3 hour intervals and found that it worked better and with less med overall.  I think the XR technology is a bit overrated.
