ADHD symptoms at what age? He was always active in the womb and it was usually when I was sleeping or relaxing! He was on that 2 hour cycle as a baby...it was like clockwork. I knew there was an issues with hyperactivity by the time he was 2 1/2. He still wakes up at the same time every single night, moves all night and talks in his sleep. With his lil brother it was the complete opposite, from birth slept for 6-8 hours straight, he could just sit there and stare and smile for hours. He just likes to mimick all of his big brothers bad behaviours and tries to keep up with him as best as possible...some times if we have a real "great" day its like having 2 ADHD kids!![]() At age 4 it was coming out more. At age 3 she was into everything reaching and touching anything in her sight and I thought it was a kid thing. It was embarassing taking her anywhere when she was younger About 3 1/2...I noticed how hard it was for him to sit still during the story hour at the library...also at mini gym...during the 5 minute circle time my son did not want to do the stretches but wanted to get back to jumping on the tramp.. I am now taking my almost 2 year old to the mini gym and she sits beautifully, watches the teacher and tries to do the stretches.. I dont see any symptoms of ADHD with her thus far .he was three I dated a guy for a while who was raising two girls by himself... the 12YO had severe ADHD, and when I watched her I saw my son. He was diagnosed a year later. He was hyperactive, extremely impulsive, very clumsy, forgetful, reckless, never played with toys or stopped moving. i started to notice about age 2 that My baby was more active than others. By the age of 5 we were sure he was ADHD but, all doctors kept telling us to wait until he started school. However we did find a dear doctor who finally agreed to test him before he started school. Rather than spend half the year to find out. Signs were inability to sit still, touching everything in sight, and worrying. He is very compulsive, everytrhing has to be just right. He still doesnt sleep very well, tosses and turns all night! Very hard to get up in the AM. Best of luck to you and your child. My daughter was extremely active in the womb, and I wondered even during my pregnancy. The doctor commented just after she was born, and while in the hospital nursery about her "alertness." She walked at nine months, and after that time, I was convinced. My son was really clumsy too...stitches on his face at 15 months, broken jaw at 20 months thus causing his 2 front top teeth needing to be pulled at 3. He wouldnt play by himself until he was almost 3, I always thought that was strange. My other son would go off by himself and play by 1...that the same time my ds finally did it, I guess he figured if his baby bro could do it, why cant I?I noticed that my son was much more active than our daughter as a newborn. He was squirming when I fed him. He climbed - crawled up the stairs before he could walk, he used the handles on drawers as a ladder to get up to the counter when he was barley one. I thought he has just different personality then our daughter. When he was 4, I had company from a friend with her 9 year old son, she told me, that Jacob was exactly the same as hers at that age, and that I should have him checked. I never realized or connected the dots, that all those stories I heard about her son as was growing up, where the same behaviors as my son was showing. It tokk me a years, he was dx with adhd and odd when he was 5. Our daughter was always more quiet, we found out about her being add in 2004, at the beginning of 2nd grade when her grades went from A's and B's to D's and F's. It was coincidentally shortly after Jacob was dx. my ds is 8 and severe ADHD. He, too, hyper focuses. He always has. It's strange but it is not all that uncommon. try this link out. i found it a while back, but you might like it. http://www.adhd-world.com/6901/?*session*id*key*=*session*id *val*
I first asked his pediatrician about adhd at age 2 -- he was starting to get aggressive toward other kids and the daycare was complaining about his inability to sit still when they needed him to do so (really, sit still at age two?). The Pediatrician told me it was too early to diagnose -- and we didn't see a doc until he was 3.5 years old.a week before his second birthday,he started acting up.first i thought it as the terrible 2.He was also late with talking and was always on the go but very clumsyFrom the moment he was born he was very active. After being swaddled and placed on my chest, having just one hand to hold him, he somehow wriggled his way to my face and was sucking on my nose until a doctor rescued me. Different from my first born, the following were things I kept wondering about until diagnosis. From infancy, he couldn't sleep unless the room was pitch black. At five to six months I noticed his eye contact was not very good. Hyper focused as a toddler. When he was tired and sleepy his behavior accelerated instead of slowed down. Always into something with an extremely high tolerance for pain until on Ritalin. My son is inattentive adhd mainly, and it took us a while to figure things out. He was perfectionistic and meticulous about doing preschool work, stopped napping daily at two (although my older son did this and is not adhd), and always had trouble finishing work. Although he was very bright, at first I was not sure of this fact because he hated to do anything written. (He could think much faster than he could write and would become frustrated) He did hyperfocus watching tv - as a little one - he did not even blink, so I couldn't let him watch too long. He would have tears on his cheeks from not blinking during "Barney". I would have to walk up to him and tell him to blink! ![]() ![]() My daughter was very active in the womb. It continued after she was born. Always hyper. Starting walking at an early age and talking, too. Finally, she was diagnosed with ADHD-ODD at 5yrs. old. My son always shown signs of being easily distracted by anything. He was diagnosed with ADD at 5yrs. Karesh IMac, I remember that my son did the flipping over at an early age too.
