Wow, how wonderful that your daughter is beginning to advocate for herself. How old is she? If she wasn't as "respectful" as the school would have liked you can coach her on her tact. But
that she spoke up for herself.
I should ask, if your frustration with the school or with your dd?

wow - how unfair, if thats how it really went down...
With my son, we can't trust him to tell the truth about a situation like that...
But I feel you pain anyway...

OMG, these kids can be so perceptive and direct, and adults don't always appreciate it, do they? 
DS explained his teacher's problems (to me, thankfully, not her!) as "Mrs. D doesn't trust anyone else; she feels like she has to control everything herself." Which describes the way she runs her classroom exactly (parents are not allowed to escort 1st-graders to the room, etc.).
During his kindergarten screening, he asked the teacher to clarify her categories, as her questions were not really clear! Luckily she was a 25+ year veteran of teaching and took it in stride.
