Any experience with Tenax? | ADHD Information

I took my son (5 1/2) to a psychiatrist today for the first time... his
pediatrician had been prescribing his Adderall XR. He has always seemed
very uninterested with our behavioral problems, and I wanted someone
more knowledgeable.

The Adderall works, he takes 15 mg in the morning and 10 mg at noon,
and we make it through the evening without too much trouble. Mornings
are hell. I hid a camcorder in the living room and taped a week's worth of
meltdowns, and his psychologist was shocked. She also confirmed that he
has verbal tics when the stimulant is not in his system (they go away
when the adderall hits). He is getting too big and I am getting too old to
struggle so much. Most mornings I have to sit on him on the bathroom
floor and sometimes force his mouth open to brush his teeth.

So anyway, the psychiatrist suggested adding Tenax at night. He said it
helps about 50% of kids, and doesn't seem to have bad side effects. It
would probably help the tics too (a sudden gagging barfing sound- what
joy). Has anyone used this for their kids? How does the crushed up pill
taste? Can the flavor be hidden? How big is 1 mg? Were they less sleepy,
or more sleepy in the morning?
