What has caused you the most problems at work?

While I can be impulsive, not "getting it" has been a much bigger problem for me in the past - I think.

My "stupid" comments and finishing everyone's sentences (not correctly either) definitely contribute, as well as begin clueless what people are talking about at times.

I've discovered recently that I have a lot of trouble with listening to people and taking directions. It's something I actually struggle with. Cognitively I am at a college senior level in almost all aspects, except math and story recall. In story recall I am at a 5th grade level. And in my opinion, barely that...

So in a workplace environment 9in my expereince) almost all day to day direction is given verbally. I suck at that.

I had a job in procurement. I did most everything through a computer. I did very well because just about every task that came my way came through email.

I have learned to cope somewhat. Immediately after someone gives me directions I repeat to them (usually a couple times) the directions. Of course this usually annoys people, but if I don't make sure I have a visual picture in my head of what they want me to do I will probably have to go find them within a few minutes and ask them to tell me again or show me. This is inefficient for sure and gets to be very annoying.

But in my defense, once I know how to do a task I never need help again. And I usually can figure out more efficient ways to do things or figure out ways to do things by myself where I would normally need someone's physical help. But usually by that point I have annoyed the pants off of people and I think they don't trust me.

It frustrates me that I get high praise in my jobs, but never seem to progress. And this could be because I don't stay in my jobs long enough. My max time at a job is 2 years. That was at UPS loading trucks. Other than that I've never had a job last much more than a year.
The right thing... yep.  I'm all about the right thing and it bites me in the ass every time.  Hmm, but maybe that's just another flavor of "not getting it."
