Thanks for the info about magnesium.  Here is a related website I found:

http://www.health911.com/remedies/rem_teethg.htm

My daughter, age 5, has been grinding her teeth since we started her last medication.  Last week, my doctor told us to try melatonin for her braxism.  It has worked!  She has been grinding her teeth very little  and has been getting a great nights sleep on top of it!  And this has changed her morning attitude so much. Her doctor said there is a study out of Canada re:  melatonin and braxism,  but I have not been able to locate the site.

I find all of this information related to bruxism interesting because I suffered with pain for many years prior to diagnosis and a three prong treatment approach out of UCLA.  Meticulous diagnosis process, use of a night guard, physical therapy (exercises, therapy, instruction about correct position of tongue jaw etc) and psychotherapy (various relaxation techniques including biofeedback).  This was about 11 years ago and at that time supplements was never mentioned.

Thanks so much!

My son does it occasionally, with out meds or while on the right dose.  If his dose is too high or the wrong med, I wonder if his teeth will last the day.  lol  It truly drives me batty.
Has anyone experienced teeth grinding with their children?  My son has been doing that alot lately.
Try to ignore it i know its hard but he will soon stop it, if you cant handle it walk out the room, my adhd son did it for a while & i found that ignorring it worked.Ds started grinding and clacking his teeth at 2 1/2 and hasn't stopped.  Dentists and doctors all said it was related to teeth coming in and falling out over the years and not to worry.  After his braces came off he got a night guard.

I clench my teeth too and also wear a night guard, it helps prevent the painful aches that sometimes accompany it.  Another thing is to learn how to relax the jaw during the daytime.
Has anyone experienced teeth grinding with their children?  My son has been doing that alot lately.I have always ground my teeth.  my son doesn't.  My dentist told me it's from TMJ.  You might want to consider getting him a night guard.  it will re leave the pressure on his jaw and help prevent his teeth from "grinding down".

Yes 2 of the 4 kids grind their teeth and so do I.

I have a night guard and can't seem to get use to wearing it.  A couple times I've thrown it across the room in my sleep. ....but the guard works for some.
