hey everyone, long time no talk. Anyway, I was on Adderall 30XR for about a year and then took a break for about 4 months. I then went back on it but this time 20 Xr and currently on 25mg. This doesnt seem to be enough for me, and was curious if anyone thinks I should talk to my doctor about 30XR? also does anyone take a single dose in the morning higher then 30Xr?

Talk with whoever prescribes for you on the upping - but have you thought about trying straight dexedrine for a while? Seeing as adderall ended up a dead end for you to the point you had to take that extended 4 months off I'm wondering if you should try a new avenue.
All I can say is I'm still on 20mg - as a matter of fact for the last 3 weeks I've been able to drop to 10mg and holding. Still feel like a million bucks.

Yea, The reason I stopped adderall was because of depression. my doctor wanted me to stop taking adderall as it may have been contributing. I thought this too, but when i stopped the Adderall the depression just got worse, needless to say im out of it now.
Anyway what is the difference from adderall and dexedrine?.. oh and by the way I have tried 2 different meds - Concerta and Straterra with no help. What the problem is - is anxiety... Which I take half of the smallest dose of Alprazolam to control that. But it would be much better if i could take a single dose in the morning and forget aobut it.. .. I will ask my doctor about dexedrine.
Well it is pretty rare to get depressed on amphetamines. Typically it can cause rare cases of mania in which case you'd be on cloud nine lol.
Adderall is a different formulation of dextroamphetamine (saccharate instead of sulphate) along with another type of amphetamine (can't recall which one). It's supposed to be milder on the system than dextroamphetamine sulphate (dexedrine) like concerta is for Ritalin - but honestly from the reports I'd have to think it's no better and for some it lacks the needed meds somehow.
Dexedrine spansules which I take are the XR variety. Most days one dose is enough (about 6 to 9 hours but I'd say 6 strongest then it wanes). Rarely like on overtime days at work I'll punch out another dose to keep alert and focused but most days the one does the trick.
Anxiety is a big one for any of the amphetamines (and I hear stratterra isn't much better) as it tends to excite the systems that anxiety plays upon. I felt a short span of limited anxiety (is my heart racing? is it supposed to? what's that pressure is that bad??) but it went away about the same time the short-term impotency and racing heart did. Pretty much a month or two and I leveled out nicely.
All I deal with now is the intestinal troubles (I have amphetamine-driven IBS) but a cheap pill called dicetel helps when needed. Actually I've been nearly force-fed to a whopping 215 lbs and haven't needed a dicetel in about a month and a half so I am hoping even that's gone.
It's a viable alternative to adderall for adults. It's cheaper, reasonably mild with side effects most can live with, and generally I find with med holidays I haven't needed to up it since around january of last year. I got an Rx for upping it if I need to but heck 20mg once/twice a day is working fine! As a matter of fact the last while I've been able to drop it to 10mg 1x/2x not for weaning off them but because I want the cheapest and most effective route.
I haven't felt any dependence either physical or psychological and can prove it as during my 2 week holiday I needed only 2 days with pills and the rest I went without. Kept myself so damn busy building that I never even thought about it at all. No tugging or sadness or fatigue - as a matter of fact I felt like I was 18 again. Great feeling if not for sunburning myself to extra crispy lol.
Give it a go. It's not an expensive experiment but take it from me try it honestly for about 2 months if you really want to see it work. And do keep in touch with a therapist as you may feel a need to realign yourself. For the better my friend.
Interesting GlenW, I am really thinking about taking this summer completely off of all medd, cuz college will be over - what do you think? ( its been a long year)- And for ur commemt- (Well it is pretty rare to get depressed on amphetamines.) yea, My doc said it may not be adderall doing this, but if your depressed you cant sleep.. right? well when your depressed and on an amphetamine- you wont get proper rest, and it kind of cleaned my slate.
