I have been taking Adderall XR 20mg in the morning and 10mg generic adderall in the afternoon. I've been on the meds for about a year. I'm 45 years old with ADD. Diagnosed about 1 year ago.
I have developed Tingling in my arms, hands, feet....cold feet and hands,...and numbness.
Is this a reaction to the meds? Does anyone else experience this?
My doctor says he thinks it might be MS...
Could he be wrong? I am going for testing in a few months for the MS, but in the meantime I am really scared.
Any one else with these simptoms may be able to enlighten me, I Hope...
I also noticed that the meds are not working as well as they did in the beginning,
Can anyone share their experience or simularities?
I highly doubt you have MS. Sounds like you have a tolerance issue...have you tried taking a few days off the adderall to see if the numbness goes away? Numbness with stimulants is rarely mentioned but does happen with some.To be Honest, he is a good doctor....
I went for MRI, I have 2 herniated discs in my neck. Though he says that the MRI report states nothing touching or effecting nerves which would cause numbness or tingling...also no leasons in this area to show sign of MS. He says I need to see Neurologist for a MRI of the Head. I asked if it sounds like it might be MS, and his reply was " I think thats what we are looking for."
The numbness, Tingling and coldness in my extremities seem to have started after taking my meds about 6 months ago or so. I need to know if others on these meds expierence the same or is this unique.
I guess I'd like to keep all my options open by being a little more educated.
I do thank everyone for their support, but I am not trying to say my doctor is wrong....I just would like to possibly ease my own mind knowing MS may not be the reasons for these symptoms. (My appointment with Neurologist is in Late June, for consultation)!
Yes I'm taking 10 mg Barr Brand adderall daily. I tried others, but they didn't agree with me.
Why do you say that about the generic Barr brand...Is it known for these side affects?

Yes, he could be wrong. In fact, he is most likely wrong and he is an asshole for saying that and worrying you.
I can't answer specifically to the Adderall question, but I sure can tell you that there can be a marked difference between a generic version of a drug versus the name-brand one. My family has had a handful of nasty reactions to generic versions of various drugs, which were quickly resolved after switching to the name-brand. One family member had numbness and tingling, not to mention chest-pain (from the generic version of Celexa). Pharmacists can no longer convince us that the ingredients are "EXACTLY THE SAME". The manufacturers may list exactly the same ingredients on the bottle or box, but we know better now. Maybe my family is just sensitive, but I don't think so!
Good luck with getting your answer soon...

BARR GENERIC ADDERALL SUCKS!By law generics are allowed to have a 20% variance in the active ingredients of their drug, which is an explanation as why people have different reactions to different generics. I had horrible side effects with Barr and after switching to namebrand they almost all went away.
