high score for adult add | ADHD Information

Sounds like you're being treated for depression, not ADD.

Cymbalta and Wellbutrin are not frontline meds for ADDHD.

Lithium is a dumbing down med used for bipolars.

Get a second opinion before you up your meds.

I was on Cymbalta, Lithium, Effexor, Adderal, and a host of others, as a human experiment.

I'm well off on Ritalin, Provigil, Wellbutrin, and Ambien.

Oh, and a good girlfriend.

I was doing poorly as a married sucker.

Now that I'm free, I don't need all the anti-D's.

Amazing, eh?

i have been treated for depression and anxiety off and on (more on than off) for the last 17 years. the anti-depressants have not worked very well for me---the periods that they did help have been few and far between. i have a very short fuse, which makes me feel bad for my children because i am so irritable.
i was not overly thrilled about the doc wanting to up my cymbalta since it has not helped my depression---but it is supposed to help fibromyalgia---so i am willing to give it a short trial. i got fairly agitated yesterday after noon, i'll see what happens today. if it is a problem again, i'll know it is the increase in meds.   my moods are really unstable. i have no idea from one day to the next what kind of mood i will be in----sometimes from one hour to the next.
i was really hoping the doc would try me on one of the stimulants. i'll talk to him again in 2 weeks by phone, and i have another appt. on june 1st.
christinei went to the psych yesterday. after filling out the questionares and talking to some guy---they informed me that i score pretty high for add. no wonder i haven't been able to "get it together" no matter how much i try. i take 300 mgs wellbutrine and 60 mgs cymbalta. he want to up the cymbalta to 120 mgs. if this doesn't work, he wants to add lithium. does anyone havae any experience with these meds?
christineHi Christine.  I have experience with anti depressants and mood stabilizers.  Those are the meds you have listed.   Wellbutrin and Cymbalta are both antii-ds.  Lithium is a mood stabilizer used for mood disorders, not ADD.  Wellbutrin has been used to help with ADD. I am not sure about Cymbalta for ADD.  Are you having problems with mood swings or severe depression?

I fought mood stablizers for a long time and now wonder why I did.  I feel so much better and more stable. Meds don't fix everything, but they certainly help a lot.   ADD is often comormid with other disorders.  It sounds to me like you have more than ADD going on.  I am comorbid myself dx'd with a mood disorder & ADHD.

I take Wellbutrin xl 300mg, Adderall xr 20mg, Lamictal 100mg, and Ambien.
Do what the doc says, but use your own intelligence, too.

Adderall, Ritalin, and their clones are stimulant frontline ADDHD meds.

Strattera is a frontline ADDHD med, that is NOT a stimulant.

Acts more like an anti-d, but has fairly good results.

For some people.

I can't take Adderal products, b/c of contraindications in the side effects.

Ritalin and Provigil and Wellbutrin in a balanced dosis works fine.

I'm focused, and still smart...

Best wishes,

D
