My son recently switched from Concerta to Adderall and the results are awesome.
I remember reading either on this board or another that juice has been discovered to slow the absorbtion of Adderall.
If anyone has information on this please respond.
Thanks

I know that vitamin c can significantly reduce the effects on Adderall. In fact, my doc told me not to take vitamin c or any acidic juice until night time when I'm ready for the meds to wear off. Actually, I take it every night before bed and I think it really does work because I can feel it wearing off and I get sleepy about an hour after I've taken the vitamin c. He also told me not to drink orange juice or grapefruit juice in the mornings or it will make the Adderall not work nearly as well..IMac38947.4196527778Angela,
Thanks for the post. So basically anything that has citric acid would reduce the effectiveness, correct? I have been looking at all the labels and even the non-juice drinks have citric acid for "tartness". I guess milk is always a good choice, but my son is getting tired of milk at every meal and he is not much of a water drinker.
I am having the same problem with Ritalin LA (see post "Food Contraindications"). I couldn't believe so many foods contain citric acid, or under another name, ascorbic acid. Especially pre-packaged foods and frozen foods. I found a granola bar, "Sweet and Salty Nut" made by Nature Valley that is high in protein and has no citric or ascorbic acid preservatives. I also eat a banana when I need a quick snack. I decided -with some help- to drink OJ at night and stick to water during the day. They make several flavored waters but I haven't checked to see if citric acid is added. Also, another member informed me to stay away from antacids with meds though that's probably not an issue for kids. Good luck!
