Insomnia Again | ADHD Information

Does it get more frequent as we get a little older? It's 3:00am and I'm WIDE awake .

It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to wake up at 7:00 am to get my girls off to school. I drive them but at least it's only about 5 blocks and no busy streets (or I could be in some trouble).

HYPERTHYROID CAN CAUSE THIS ALSO.

i NEVER USE BUT NATURAL SLEEPAIDS TO HELP.

i don't know. i was a night-owl when i was younger anyway.

it does seem i get insomnimaniacal every 3-4 mos.

up one day, two, or even three!(almost 3 ).

since going back to daily caffeine dosing, it may be under control.

we'll see.

the more i tell myself i have to sleep, the more awake i feel.

seeker6338831.4779050926dwm3576, Actually, there is a real Sleepy Time tea and sometimes it does work for me, but if it doesn't, then I have to call in the team   Dee

sorry.. but just couldn't pass that one up ....Another tea that is supposed to promote relaxation is Traditional Medicinals "Organic Nighty Night" tea.

I can't really say if it helps or not but my daughter has trouble sleeping sometimes and she believes that is helps...It could but of course it could be psychological..and that's okay!

lost my shoe, you hit the nail on the head.  i haven't been able to sleep good, dreaming too much for about a week I checked the calendar and aunt flo will be visiting so that makes sense.

sometimes I take a tylenol pm and it helps, but not always.

Fell asleep with my head on the keyboard at 2ish and now cant get to sleep. It is now 3am.

I have always been a night-owl.  For me, it's not just hard to get to sleep but to stay asleep.  I think as you get older you do require less sleep, but that may not always be so if you have a very stressful and/or strenuous job that totally exhausts you.  I have definitely noticed a difference in myself.  I used to absolutely have to have 8 hours of sleep or I felt tired the next day, but now 7 seems to be fine unless it's during the Christmas season when I work morning, noon and night, sometimes 7 days a week.  3:00AM seems to be the "charming" hour I wake also, sometimes to answer natures call or oddly just for no particular reason at all and of course I can't get back to sleep.

I have been tortured with insomnia my whole life.  The worst is a week before certain hormonal fluctuations.  I am tortured for at least 5 to 7 days out of the month and then finally those lovely little sleep hormones balance out again.  I have to be up at 6:30am to get myself and my daughter ready for work and school and that can be brutal sometimes when I've had a bad night.  I hate taking sleeping meds. because I am so sensitive to medication that they drug me out and I feel like a zombie the whole next day, not worth it all.  I'd rather be a little tired but still able to function then wiped out.  I am however, going to look into maybe some natural stuff that may help.  That may be an option for you if the insomnia seems like it is getting really bad.  It's best to research it and maybe talk to your doctor too if it gets to a point where it's seriously affecting you.  You're definitely not alone in your quest for rest.   I'm right there with ya.  Hang in there and try to catch those run away z's.   Dee lostmyshoe38831.7985648148

thanks Dee.

I've never tried a Tylenol pm. Do you feel drowsy in the am with those lynnann?

I sure caught up...I slept like a baby last night and for a few hours this morning after taking the girls to school.

I think I usually get insomnia when I'm worried or troubled by something..need to fix those kind of things as quickly as possible!

Just went through a bout of insomnia this past week and I did use some of the Sleepy Time.  I am also going to look into Seratonin and some of the other natural products.  The links were also really helpful from Dave.   Lots of good info.
