The chat Kppy posted is TOMORROW night. Yes, you'll need to register in order to post. You can only read without registering. The link is in my signature line, if anyones interested! We have a LOT of fun & learn alot from each other Too!
yikes!  i did type "tonight", didn't i?  it's tomorrow.  thanks misty for the correction!
I'll try and make it. I'm in the westcoast so I may not be able to attend on time. How long are these sessions usually?

The sessions have just started. This will be our third one but so far they have lasted over an hour. If everyone shows up who says they plan on it, it can easlily last for  a couple of hours or more. Even if we have finished, you can still read what is there and post your responses.

Who knows, there may be others who can't make it at that time and once someone starts posting again later, they could start it up again. We don't lock the threads so it can continue on for as long as people keep it going. The thread can keep going for days or weeks just as it would for any regular thread. We will move it to the appropriate board after tonight but there will be a notice that it is moved and to where, when that happens.

If you come and see that no one is posting there, check to see if another thread has started up the same way. With many people showing, its our hope that if a topic leads into other areas, people will feel comfortable starting a thread on those topics also.

An example would be that we are starting with how ADHD affects the entire family, but if the thread is going in the direction of siblings and someone is having problems with getting the grandparents and aunts and uncles to understand it isn't a parenting issue, some of them could get another thread going and dialogue on ways that have worked for them, and things to try to help the extended family understand and take it seriously.

There is just something about everyone being there at the same time that really creates a feeling of  community or family for those who are there. That closeness translates into feeling more comfortable talking about issues that you have had a problem sharing so far. If someone doesn't quite understand what another has said, they can ask for clarification and get it immediately so you don't have to wait hours or days to get an accurate answer.

Yes, we have a different topic each week. We announce the date/time/topic in a thread a few days before the chat. It seems Tuesdays work the best, but occassionally we may hold it on a Wed instead.
