Hi Matthew, I've been at this computer all day, and the name Buspar just like jumped out at me. I did take Buspar when I think it was fairly new for G.A.D & a sleep disorder.
I was told it was a safe non-addicting drug, so I gave it a try for about a month. I had no bad side effects, except for the first couple of days I felt like I had "springs" on my feet. Like walking on a trampoline. Not pleasent, or really unpleasent. Just kind of strange.
After a month, I noticed no change in my sleep or anxiety. So I gave that one up. I only knew of one other person who was taking Buspar and it helped her. Her hands shook really bad, and with in 15 min. of taking Buspar she could hold out her hands perfectly still.
When I start a new med, I always look it up on the internet. You may find more info and possibly learn what it is used most commonly for. Just recently, my doc gave me samples of what she said could help my anxiety. I forget the name now, but I learned it was mainley use to treat seazures but could also be used to treat other disorders. That one didn't help either
it made me say some pretty "cocky", stuff but my husband later said it was kind of funny hearing those things from me.
Sorry to ramble, but I just wanted you to be aware that your doc may also suggest you try something else, that can be used to treat alot of other stuff, but may not work for you. I've had so many samples I could fill a wearhouse and NONE worked! If you don't mind trial and error, you may find something thats right and non-addicting. For me, I'll stick to the adderall, klonipin and Ambian(for sleep). Their all addicting, but hey, it works for me!
Good luck!
My doc wants to add it for my GAD but pls tell me what happened to you all when you used it. Thanks alot
