Hi Guys,
I've presently worked myself up to 40mg for 1 week. I don't feel as bad as I did intially. I sometimes feel very focused, other times, I can't even put a sentence together. How long should the Strattera take to be effective to alleviate symtoms, and how do you know when and if, you should increase? This can be exhausting..
Thanks for your responses.
Lynn
Taking Strattera is like hopping on a rocking boat and sometimes it feels that way! It takes a while for the brain to get used to this chemical and not try to oust it, in the meantimes you're left wondering if it's useful. I was up to 60 mgs and still had some hyperactivity. It took about two months for any difference to show.
Dear Lynn,
Check with your doctor, but I believe the target daily dose for Straterra is 80 mg, so you still have a ways to go. Also, keep in mind that Concerta and Adderall extended release have been on the market longer than Straterra. If Straterra does not help you, be your own best advocate and insist on trying a different medication.

Hello~
I am new to this forum. Just read your Strattera question. Since June 3, I have been taking 80mg a day (2 pills). Sometimes I too feel as though it isn't working. I do notice that I do not interrupt or talk fast when I am taking Strattera. I have more time to think about what I am going to say. Other times I feel as though I just can't stay focused and get things done like I should.
I was actually going to ask my dr. if I should be taking "more" than what I have been taking.
Sorry no real help here, but thought I would give you my input since I have been on it for a few months.
Good Luck
i to feel the same way iam also on 60 mgs and still have hyperactivity u just have to give it time and see what works best for you hang in there
love josh
It did not work for me. I felt sedated and weak. Concerta and dexidrene did not work either. It appears that Wellbutrin and Remeron after trying unlimted meds works about the best.
Point being, don't give up, keep trying other meds if strattera does not work out for you.
