good news/bad news | ADHD Information
First the good...my dd has been taking adderral l for 2 weeks now and the improvement is amazining. Even on the very low dose she took the first few days I could see a difference. She actually cleaned her room, without us asking, and cleaned it better than it's been cleaned in years. Amazingly, it's STILL clean. She says that her own thought don't distract her anymore and I actually see her doing hw and getting it done without any fuss. It's like I finally have the daughter I know I raised...all the good habits I've tried to drill into her in the last 14 years have suddenly shown up :)
Now the bad...actually it's just frustrating. DH still is not ready to acknowlege that the meds are helping her. He actually tossed around the possibility that her room might be clean b/c of some "placebo effect"...that b/c she knew that she should be able to focus when on the meds she is suddenly doing it. GRRRR...what will it take to convince this man
I am glad it is going well for you and for your husband let him just wait and see. I was the stubborn one when the idea of medicating my child occured and i am still weary on the idea but I too have noticed great progress that even I could not deny.Thanks. I think the difference is amazing. Her room is STILL clean. I can't wait for the next progress report from school. It's so funny though...she's finally has free time on her hands since she gets things done quickly and she complains that she's bored. I don't think she's ever had time to be bored in her life since it always took her so long to do things.
I am so happy for your daughter. I can relate to her being at a loss for what to do with all her free time. I felt the same way when I first started medication.
I can also sympthise sp? with your frustration over your husbands reluctance to admitt that ADHD might actualy be a real thing. My husband has been slow to recognize this as well. He once actually said that perhaps their was a diffrence in the brain of those who are diagnosed ADHD, but he attributed this to their not being made to focus as children therefor their brains did not develop conections too concentrate as well
This would almost be funny if it wasent so agravating.
Anything to not admit that adhd could possibly be a real disorder. He seems to finaly be coming around though. He can not ignore the diffrence that medication has made in me.
Give him some time when he continues to see how wonderful this is for your daughter he will most likly come around.
Backtoreality, I would think that over time the proof will be in the pudding! He'll see that truly is different and that's all the proof you need! Good Luck!
