Hi All,
I was diagnosed with ADD inattentive type several weeks ago and I am having trouble finding the right Meds. I was started on Concerta 18mg. I lasted on that for about a week, but I could not take the side effects. So I was switched to Adderall 10mg 2x/ day about 4 days ago (Tuesday). The first day was ok, I guess. I went to the doc that morning, so that first day was just an afternoon dose. I definetly did not notice a "high" but I did notice that the migraine that I had had since I woke up was gone and at group coaching I could ACTUALLY keep quiet and listen to what other people had to say (A miracle for me....lol) The next day was really busy, bad and stressful so I was not really paying attention to my body. That evening though I started to feel a strange headache. My head was very heavy and full of pressure. I am prone to migraines and this was not like any migraine I have had. I just figured it was the stress, but thursday and friday were not that great either. I got some work done on Thursday morning, but by afternoon the pressure headache came back. Today (friday) I have accomplished NOTHING and still feel the pressure. I am also EXTREMLY thirsty, I don't mind it but I go to the bathroom 10x/ day. If these things are all just my body getting used to the drugs then I don't mind, but I would like to find the right combo as soon as possible. I am leave from school at the moment but I start back week after next and am afraid that I will not make it (fail
) if things are not figured out before I go back. I am leave cuz I was failing out and the school helped me figure out why (ADD)
I am taking Barr generic Adderall.
So my questions are....
1. How many different meds and/or doses did you try before finding the one that worked best initially (I know this can change after time)
2. How much time did you take between each change. I have read from one week to a couple months and I don't know how long to give it.
3.If you started on Concerta or adderall and quickly changed, what were you experiencing that made you know you had to switch.
4. Did anyone START with a generic and then switch to name brand and then found the name brnd more effective or with less side effects.
5. What effects (good and bad) did you notice with generic vs brand.
Any help would REALLY be appreciated.
BTW, though I am still not eating as much as before I started meds (not a bad thing...lol) I am eating better on adderall than on Concerta and I am drinking a lot of water.
THANKS
By the way, I found a website that gives a free discount pharmacy card. It gives the average prices for brand name drugs on the web site. Walgreens was a little confused when I handed it to them, but after she called the number on the card, I paid for 35 10mg tabs of generic Adderall.
From what I have read generic is far from ideal, but I could not justify passing that up without at least trying.
