There is a lot of info. about this here in the boards, go back and read because you will get a lot out of it.

Go to the top of this page and click on Search, then type  CLONIDINE, then where it says Search by ..put by topic/subject... and search in the board of parents with child. with adhd.

Hope you can find the information you are looking for.

We tried it with my 5 yr old.   Sounds just like your Dd.  but it made him very very drowsy then we lower the dose and everyday he woke up in a bad mood for about 2 weeks, not like him at all.  He would get mad for everything. So we stopped and it went away.   We have been trying a lot of meds. and the best one with no side effects has been Metadate CD 20mg.

Good luck

Thank you.

I didn't realize I could do that.

Hello.  Maybe this should be posted to the meds list but I thought I might get more responses here since my daughter just turned 6.

Does anybody have their children on this drug?  Any information, good and bad is welcome.  My daughter has every symptom of adhd and also other comorbid things to go along with it (speech disorder, hypotonia, etc.).  She does not respond well to stimulants as they actually act like speed with her.  She is not Bipolar.  I'm not sure if it is her age or what.  She does have a lot of hyperperfusion (overactivity) in a lot of her brain regions.

I know one of the side effects can be sleepiness with this drug.  The doctor said it does not help with attention but more so hyperactivity and impulsiveness.   You would think that if you could target those two areas than maybe that would help with attention?

Anyways, I'm thinking of starting her on a very small dose over the weekend.  1/4 pill in the a.m.  Also, how long does it work for most of your children (hours?)  One of our doctors recommended the patch but the other said no that it is too much for her.  She is only 37 lbs.

We need to do something as I'm losing hope.  It is greatly affecting her higher-level learning.  We are going to repeat Kindergarten next year.

Thank you!
