This article didn't say what should be taken or how to calm the raging and aggressive behaviors. They only say the bad things about the meds.
ALL meds have side effects---even Tylenol.
My son only gained 6 lbs in the first month on risperdal. Got his tonsils out and lost 10 lbs in 1 week. Never gained it back. His only side effect was drowsiness---in which we had to give it to him at bedtime.
The benefits totally outweigh the risks for us.
What on earth do you do with a child who can't even learn in school because of the meltdowns, rages, and aggressive behaviors???
That's very scary stuff coming from mainstream media.
My sister was on Zyprexa, and my stepmother had her taken off of it because it has been so directly related to diabetes. I discussed this with a doctor recently, and he said that this can be easily monitored with frequent blood tests, which I thought was interesting.
Anyhoo...disturbing.
When my son was taking depakote (which is not on the list) he had a blood test every month to monitor the lvls of different stuff in his blood (way over my head what they were looking for, LOL). I know they were looking at his liver function, the amount of the drugs in his system and also at a bunch of other stuff...diabetes probably being one of them as he was packing on the pounds
So it makes alot of sense that they would do that for drugs as strong as these.
I found this interesting....my son just came off of one of these drugs, and I know some of your children are taking some of the others.
