I might add too that although Provigil shows a LOT of promise as it's very unlikely to gain dependence on this class of stimulant and it lasts much longer - that it's very new and unknown what long-term effects there might be.
Like any other med with promise we must temper the positive with the possible negatives. Just a thought for everyone. I'm not all pro-med - I like to have some balance in there.
Just remember that India is unregulated. They can put anything (even baby laxatives have been found in meds like viagra and blood pressure meds!) in and there is no law to protect you.
Hi BoPeep
Although I don't have add, I take 200 mg of Provigil everyday for low energy level. I have Fibromyalgia, and I would be in bed all day without it.
It is very expensive, something like 7 for 30. Maybe you could buy only a weeks worth at a time? Or cut it in half,or take it every other day instead. (My doctor prescribed a half of tablet to start, then work up to the whole tablet)
And yes it is a gradual type feeling. It makes me want to stay up, other than go back to bed.
Please heed the warnings others have given you, do not buy from India. Too many risks involved.
I found this post interesting because I have never heard of Provigil for add symtoms. Did the doctor tell you to stop the adderal, and take Provigil instead? Or take it along with the adderal?
Bottom line? Provigil, is what I call my "pick me up med." If your tired all the time, it's excellent,
Hope this helps some.

Hello,
I have ADD and take Adderall. My doc gave me a trial of Provigil, but doesn't want to prescribe it as it seems to be very subtle in its effects and doesn't seem to be effective for ADD by itself. Also, it is very expensive.
I did some poking around on the internet and found that it is easy and cheap (and apparently legal) to buy Provigil from a manufacturer called Sun Pharma in India. Its called Modalert there and it is apparently modafinil, the same ingredient in Provigil. It is also cheap - less than for 200mg.
Has anyone taken this? Why would it be available in India but so expensive in the U.S.?
Just remember that India is unregulated. They can put anything (even baby laxatives have been found in meds like viagra and blood pressure meds!) in and there is no law to protect you.
India and pakistan are well known for making bogus medications that are either old and outdated or not even containing active ingredients.
Go Canada if you want cheaper - but watch out the rules keep changing.
redsun - have you tried dexedrine? It's a key component of Adderall, cheaper and I can tell you from personal experience it works well. Just a thought.
Provigil is still untested territory - was designed to keep pilots in the USAF alert over long extended periods of days (hence the vigil part of the name).
Modalert is still pretty new as well. Sometimes the old standards are best unless you show problems with them.
The only thing I know that provigil is good with is that it has almost no side effects (no anxiety, lessened dependence even when abused, apetite stays better).
Best wishes
Like most stimulants modalert and provigil take about 30 minutes to absorb and about an hour to fully establish itself.
I notice a lot of people describe the med not working after a couple of days. Are you talking that you cannot "feel" the med - or that the old habits come back? I just wanted to know if we are on the same page here.
I think some people equate the light and giddy feeling that stims give as "working" - not the control and fog-free thinking. Maybe I'm wrong?
the dexedrine xr works similar to adderall. Each person is different so I'd hate to get your hopes up to how well it works before you did. For me it works wonderfully.
Under your insurance I doubt you'd get much savings (that's good insurance mine covers 80 percent and I still pay 20 a month). But without you'd see a difference. As far as I know adderall's generic isn't as good while dexedrine's is very good. Mine if I didn't have insurance would be 120 dollars for 40mg/day. From what the pharmacist guesses that's about half the adderall here in Canada.
You should avoid getting used to the added energy and wakefulness. The main feature of adderall or the other meds is focus and attention. Those effects are the stimulant effect and will eventually get less as you get used to it. If you avoid becoming dependent on the feeling you get you can last much longer without upping it constantly.
Adderall and dexedrine together honestly I haven't heard of. But Ritalin and either dexedrine or adderall I have heard works for some - especially the hyper and inattentive ADHD.
hope this helps.
