Oh DO NOT let them push you to stratterra!! It doesn't work for the majority of ADHDers and I tried only a couple of days where I felt stoned for the first time on any medication. Awful if not merited.
It's totally normal the first few days to feel that "zippity doo dah" where everything seems brighter and happier. It will subside and leave the control and focus with you. You may need to adjust your dosage or try another med like dexedrine or ritalin but generally it's adjustment that works. Give it time before you decide to try to up it though - too much can cause its own grief.
Do make sure you are eating enough and drinking plenty of water. You may end up hungry and/or dehydrated and feeling unfocused because of it and never know which is the cause.
I was just diagnosed with ADD and they prescribed Adderall XR 20mg. The first 5 or 6 days with awesome I could not believe all the things I could get done and I was SO focused almost Hyper-Focused I was able to accomplish things that I had never been able to before. The side affects were small dry mouth, little hyper, and loss of appetite but it was great. Now over the last fews I have noticed that I am not feeling as focused or full of energy as I have been and I feel myself come off the drug much earlier. For the first few days it was good from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed not I feel it ware off around late afternoon. This kind of scares me because I work in the evenings and I am afraid that I am becoming immune to the affects. Is this a normal thing? What are some of other peoples experiences with Adderall?? p.s. they tried to start me on stratera and that was a disaster I felt like I was in a narcotic haze all day almost like being drunk and all I wanted to do was sleep. not good..
