straterra | ADHD Information

Hi

I was recently diagnosed with ADD. I have struggled with organization all of my life. I am not "neat" in my home and really don't love cleaning!  I am pretty successful in my career and was an honors student in school and college. I recently heard about Straterra and went to a clinician to get diagnosed.

I asked for Straterra because I didnt want to be on a ritalin or adderal stimulant type medication. What I have found is that I have much fatigue! I have been on two weeks and am almost lazy!  I was pretty moody the first week and that and the spaced out feeling have gone away but do I love to sleep!! I always slept about 6-8hours a night but I often feel I could nap, go back to sleep when I wake up and am just dying to go to bed at night.  I just dont feel I am seeing it work well enough to justify the fatigue.

Could anyone else share with me their experiences of how the drug is working for them and the side effects they are experiencing?

Thanks so much.

Same as you I feel like I am the laziest womon on earth.  Today I did not even go to work until late.  I can not do that again.  Also, I don not know if it is related but my blood pressure shot up like a rocket.  I have to take new blood pressure meds.  Please have yours checked and let me know.

Straterra Day 5:

In spite of the Doctor  saying I need to be on the drug for at least two weeks, I feel I have seen results. The only side effects I have noticed were some minor itching (which stopped yesterday) and the sleeplessness. Maybe that's why I'm typing at 4 in the morning.

I'm a 57 yr., old man who has had attention and organization problems all my life.

I feel calmly organized and can stay focused at work. I started at a dosage of 40 mg for 3 days and am just started 80 mg yesterday.

I am a non-believer by nature, so things have to be proved to me. I just know that I have done much better since I started.

wgold2010738070.0995601852I was sleepy for a few weeks and it improved. I always take the medication
about 9 or 10 in the morning. It has helped me with some problems. I
do feel less restless and less explosive. I have better focus most of the
time. I have been on Strattera for 5 days now.  It has been a trial so far.  I have had great difficulty in falling asleep and in staying asleep.  The first night was bad, the 2nd night was worse.  The third night ganged up on the other two and somehow was even worse.  The fourth night I felt I might be going insane from lack of sleep.  The 5th night (last night) was better.  OK sleep at best, but FAR better than the previous nights.  I too want to stick it and see how the sleep improves.  So far though it has been a definite trial. I had to add ritalin with strattera to keep me from being so sleepy. My son is 13 and has been on Concerta for the last 3 years and others before that. THis year we have had depression come up and he's been seeing a therapist who is now recommending a switch to Strattera. His suggestion is to ease off the Concerta by mixing ritalin with Straterra and do this at least 6-8 weeks. This is in part because my son really doesn't eat much at all and seems to enjoy the days he's off the Concerta so he can do that teen eating frenzy. I'm concerned about Straterra since I've heard that many who start it go back to the ritalin. I'd appreciate any comments on this. Thanks.
