Mel, perhaps finding a GP that could deal with you on a personal level rather than dealing with a "mental health unit" which by its name alone can make a person feel rather badly about ones self.
A good GP can develop a long standing relationship with you throughout your adult life. Ask for your files to be transferred to a doctor or psychiatrist of your choice and because you are an adult now, this may make you feel a little more in control of your own destiny.
Hi,
There are a few young adults that post on the forum at www.adders.org.
See you there,
SB
Today I got a letter from the mental health team in my town as the psycharist that was dealing with me can't deal with my Adhd anymore as I have come of age 18yrs old 2month ago. They want to assess me to see if I still have behavioual problems of course I still got Adhd it doesn't just disappear anything can trigger it off. It was only last month I slapped my boyfriend (ex boyfriend now) round the face, I kicked my spare computer as I was so angry. I don't have to be assessed if I don't wish they can't make me go there or section me under mental health act. I know that if I go to this meeting I will never get shot of them they will want to montior me all the time I've coped so far with my medicine Ritalin that should be good enoughwell iam not in the uk but iam 22 and have adhd and i too find it hard to meet people with add or adhd
I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THERE IS ANY1 IN THE UK BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18-LATE 20'S WITH ADHD AS IM FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO FIND PEOPLE LOCAL IN MY COUNTRY & AREA
